Dickies Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 I'm hoping to do all rounds of the OSFDC this year and after a quick dyno test late last year, I don't think a standard efi pinto will cut it. Does anyone do off the shelf turbo conversations or new manifolds? Cheers!
BigBubba Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 You can do it using a set of old Lotus Esprit Turbo DCOEs. These were designed to be used with forced induction and will bolt onto a pinto DCOE manifold. All you need is a sealed plenum chamber, turbo, exhaust manifold and intercooller and away you go!!!!!!!!!
katana Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 I thought the Lotus was fitted with Dellorto DHLA's - sealing Weber's can be a hit & miss affair!

Admin Vista Posted April 2, 2015 Admin Report Posted April 2, 2015 And in answer to the other part of the question, no, I don't know of anyone doing an off the shelf turbo conversion or manifold for a pinto. Go YB turbo instead
vince Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 if intrested i have a holbay turbo pinto complete engine with ecu etc
Dickies Posted April 2, 2015 Author Report Posted April 2, 2015 Hmmmm.... I'll have to give this one a thought then. I would like to stick to the pinto but any good N/A power is mega bucks. Vince - you'll send you a PM
buzzard Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 If you have a efi pinto then your 1/2 way there . Turbo technics did a off the shelf manifold . It was £450 in Northampton about 10 years ago This is a Granada efi set up with a tt and a t3 turbo good for 14 sec down the pod in a big mk3 cortina
Dickies Posted April 2, 2015 Author Report Posted April 2, 2015 There is a turbo setup on ebay now for 500. No idea if it's any good or not and I don't think I'll risk it for that money. Buzzard - is that running standard internals and compression?
buzzard Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 No it's low comp but standard internals . It's bored out to 93mm using v6 pistons . The normal way is to deck the block to get the comp back but because I was going turbo . Just left it to get the low comp . If you have standard pistons just go p100 or transit pistons . They are lower comp . If you have a bit of money go cosworth pistons . With the efi only reving to 6250 rpm the engine is pretty safe . Good up to 14 psi but no more .
