GJUK Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 Hi guys, When I have my engine rebuilt, the machined face for the inlet and exhaust were cleaned up, now they're going a little rusty due to being exposed. How do you guys keep these faces looking fresh? Jon
Admin Vista Posted November 20, 2015 Admin Report Posted November 20, 2015 Give them a light scrub with something not too abrasive to lift any surface rust and spray reasonably often with a light oil, WD40 for instance
GJUK Posted November 20, 2015 Author Report Posted November 20, 2015 Cheers Vista. Your car looked great at NEC by the way. 1
SmokeEm Posted November 20, 2015 Report Posted November 20, 2015 I used to wipe over with a bit of 3 in 1 oil on a rag
Admin Vista Posted November 20, 2015 Admin Report Posted November 20, 2015 Cheers Vista. Your car looked great at NEC by the way. Thanks, you should have stopped and said hello, always got time to chat to people off here.
GJUK Posted November 22, 2015 Author Report Posted November 22, 2015 I would have, we found you late in the day and that stand was really busy, lots of love from the public for the old Fords. Next time
classicwhitey Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 I had the same problem so rubbed everything down with emery paper then autosol. Then sprayed with Halfords petrol resistant lacquer and it's done the job. Doesn't burn off of the aghast flange face either.
FOSSIE Posted November 25, 2015 Report Posted November 25, 2015 Try some ACF50. This is designed to be sprayed on motorbikes to keep all the polished surfaces rust free. It is pretty damn good and has a bit rust eater in it aswell so will deal with light surface rust on both metal and alloy. Loads of it listed on EBay.
