In my years with the air training Corp got to see some amazing things, standing under the bombing doors of the Vulcan at Southend airport during the air show, bloody massive, or being at a couple of parades and having a spitfire and hurricane do a low fly over the parade, really did give you goosebumps that sound.

I've seen it a couple of times at Silverstone and Goodwood but it doesn't beat seeing the two Lancaster bombers come flying over Ladybower reservoir where they practised for the dambusters raid. That would've been a hair on end moment if I'd got any!

I turned it off half way through tbh!

I put it on cos I like Guy Martin but I'm not big on planes.

The best experience I had with the immense sound was working at RAF Lakenheath some years ago, we'd often go over to the runway and watch the F-15's (I think, top gun looking ones!) Take off and land....awesome!!

That one at Waddington XM607 was the first Vulcan that made it to bomb Stanley Airfield during the Falklands conflict, after the other two didn't. It did two more bombing runs I think it was, hence why it has pride of place at its home base. Quite an achievement in its day considering its age even at that point and the distances involved.

I must admit love all the old war birds.

I have no desire to fly in any but they all give me goose bumps when they fly over.

My workshop is located at the end of Popham Airfield, where the RAF practice maneuvers with the RAF Odiham based Chinooks, which is amazing to watch! also being an old grass airfield it is frequented by Hurricanes & Spitfires in the summer months as well as other exotica! Needless to say, not much work gets done on those days  :ykt:

I did see the Vulcan at Dunsfold a couple of years back, but I remember driving down the A287 near Crondall and the thing flew over (probably just taken off from Farnborough), it felt like it was going to rip the roof off my van
