hey guys,

im fitting my mk3 capri pinto up with twin 40's however ive been told that i need to run a choke cable or it wont start in the cold (i use the car all year round) could anyone shed some light on what i actually need and where i can get it from as ive been told i need a 2.5m choke cable but can only find 1.6m ones online also the carbs seem to be catching on my HT leads as they come off the dizzy cap can you get a cap with 90 degree outlet or should i be looking for leads with 90 degree connections to be on the safe side?

many thanks for any help

you dont need a choke with twin carbs. are you using an electronic fuel pump? switch ignition on but dont start to let the pump bring the fuel up into the carbs then give the throttle about 4 slow pumps down to the floor then start your engine. you may need to feather the throttle a bit untill it warms up but this is how we all do it.
if you are using the standard mechanical fuel pump on the engine i would crank the engine a few turns to bring the fuel up the continue as above.

have you got a picture of your dizzy? i have straight leads and have no problem with fouling at all.

Never fitted choke cable to webers yet and never had starting problems. Like classicwhitey says pressure up couple pumps it'll start. Re choke cable size was the 2.5mm choke to tow it off if it didn't start? Lol
