thrashermax Posted January 22, 2016 Report Posted January 22, 2016 Spot the difference between my old V5 and new one… Yes! Tax free now! It will be nice to receive the tax reminder with a big fat £0. Car’s tucked away waiting for better weather, then we’ll take her out to celebrate her tax free status. 1
John escort mk1V6 Posted January 22, 2016 Report Posted January 22, 2016 Congratulations with that , we got this also in The Netherlands , it was for cars older than 25 years but the fu@#s have changed that to 40 years since 1 or 2 years ago with new rules for those cars , pay the normal tax for the hole year or 120/130 euro i believe for 9 months nov , dec , jan you may not drive with it and you must pay 20/25 euro for a piece of paper. There are car dealers with alot of damage who sold these cars. And for cars with a diesel engine there city/zone`s were you may not come and there are also not tav free if i am saying it 100% right. 1

Paul RS Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 Thrashermax, did you have to apply for the new V5 or did they just send it to you? Paul
Admin Vista Posted January 27, 2016 Admin Report Posted January 27, 2016 Thrashermax, did you have to apply for the new V5 or did they just send it to you? Paul You have to apply for a change in taxation class but in some cases, can do it at the Post Office who will send your V5C off for you. Either way, it won't happen automatically.
thrashermax Posted January 28, 2016 Author Report Posted January 28, 2016 Thrashermax, did you have to apply for the new V5 or did they just send it to you? Paul As Vista says above... you need to apply either let the post office send it off or do it yourself. INF34 form from the DVLA has useful info on it:- https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/482325/INF34_181115.pdf I sent my V5 with the tax status marked as 'Historic Vehicle' in the changes bit, form V10 (application for tax), MOT and insurance certificate to DVLA directly then received my new V5 2 weeks later. If your car shows a registration date after 1 January 1975 but it was manufactured in 1974, you will need to send proof of manufacture date. I got proof from the AVO club but Vista can sort out paperwork here. I found it easier to send off directly to DVLA to avoid explaining my car was made in October 1974 to a Post Office person.
