jamie956 Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Halfords have an offer on at the min for their industrial top and bottom boxes, buy both for £299 normally £610.
colr6 Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Not seen what the quality is like, but saying that never go in halfords. Does sound a good price though
jamie956 Posted February 23, 2016 Author Report Posted February 23, 2016 I have an older top box and cant fault it,
colr6 Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Used to have cheaper tool boxes a long time ago but to be honest didn't live up to workshop use. Drawers falling out and wheels collapsing moved onto real ones. Had a v12 jag sat on my roll cab for a week around the garage some 20 years ago and still have the same box. Think you get what you pay for.
DT36 Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 I have a Halfords Trade Card and this gives you a pretty decent discount on most tools. Didn't have to show any papers to get it, but have been told some stores ask for some. I know one guy who told them he was restoring an old car and said he was going to buy everything he needed through them. I have a small topbox, cupboard door of theirs and it's quite good. Also have a set of their Pro Ratchet Spanners, which I can't fault. Mostly, I buy service items off them, if I do the odd Sunday morning jobs to earn a few quid. Get decent discount on these bits, so keep the service cost down for the cars owner. Pays for me and Bety to go out for Sunday lunch...
colr6 Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Only problem with halfords is they don't keep many parts for Scania and Daf on the shelf, bit like our Scania dealer really and they don't give discount LOL 2
Danish Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Didn't have to show any papers to get it, but have been told some stores ask for some. Our local store ask for paperwork to prove you're trading - though I suspect if I was a bloke and was wearing overalls they'd have been easier going. Not seen what the quality is like, but saying that never go in halfords. I bought the same cabinet on the same deal about 5 years ago. It's more than good enough for the home mechanic IMO. 1

I think the price of their parts helps pay for the grounds maintenance there. Place was like Southfork... 1

Have a look at some of the night classes coming up in September at Ystrad Mynach College or Cross Keys. Might be something there that takes your fancy. Cross Keys have the best spread of different courses. I think Coleg Gwent (Cross Keys) were doing Classic Car Resto on their syllabus. Anyway, if you are on one, then you can get a Trade Card as a Motor Vehicle student. 1
Tarandy Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 I've had some tools from the professional range and when I broke my ratchet I took it in the shop and they swapped it for new. In like snap on with which I had to wait till snap on man came then he said he needed to get the part in, and then the next week (he comes weekly) he repaired the faulty part of my old ratchet... So I really rate (some of) the Halfords range
psmk2 Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 Ive had halfords ratchet spanners for years and they are absolutely brilliant 1
