Wanted Escort mk2 RS 20000

Would you consider one that is not concors?

Took mine out for only the second time this year earlier today having had a new Quaife diff fitted. Was going well, but has now picked up a noise under load. Not sure if coming from clutch, gearbox or diff.

Missus is getting pretty p1ssed off with me constantly spending out on it now. I have to admit that I started spitting my dummy out with it earlier. :-

The definition of Concours can be a bit ambiguous sometimes. I entered a Club Lotus concours once with my Twincam in their Lotus Cortina/Escort category not long after I first got it to start without rolling it down a hill. The competition was a red Twincam of what you could say was of equal quality. I had an original muffler style air filter in the boot and popped it on for people to laugh at and it gave me the jump on the other crapper and I won my division! So by the standards my Twincam was back then your Yellow RS2000 looks pretty concours to me. :-)

That said I have never understood laying down top dollar for a car you just polish and trying to keep it as new as possible. The fun is watching that step by step improvement as you go and the feeling of accomplishment as you see what you have achieved. It is with good reason that people on this forum complete a car to pristine condition only to sell it on only a few months later to buy another project. Buy a runner for sure but you will certainly appreciate it more if you have a hand in its new life.

The argument to that about paying for a car in top knotch cond is maybe they don't have the knowledge or capability to restore a car but want one. I am the same as yourself love the building. I would rather have a lesser quality car knowing I'd done 90% myself. Rather make things than buy them but that's just me. It grieved me to pay someone to paint my Tina but wanted it better than I could do it, only because of the amount of investment and the biggest thing is paint so reluctantly off it went to the painters. Not a great believer in got this body to do this and that body to do that and this and that and by the way look at the great car I've built. Rather somebody have a shed and say I've done all that, credit to them for having a go.

Mine is far from concours and is certainly not treated like one when out.

Problem I have is that I work away from home during the week and spend most of my time doing family stuff on weekends. Seems that every job I do putting things right, another one rears it's head behind it which is more money again.

Had a day off work today, so did a bit this afternoon and took it out. All was going good, but now getting some noise under throttle load. Was on my own, so can't figure where it's coming from.

Will get it up off the ground next weekend to see if I can narrow it down, but I actually spoke with the Missus tonight about possibly moving it on.
