Tackleberry Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 Thought I'd take the radio out as it's not working...gave myself a 10 minute window. 45 minutes later, minus about a kilo a skin and much swearing I eventually got it out. Still not working !! Anybody recommend a decent radio engineer? It has power, but that's it... PS, apologies for side on pic....
colr6 Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 Do we still have radio engineers ? Same old same old there produced so cheaply now not worth repairing. Throw away society
Tackleberry Posted August 14, 2016 Author Report Posted August 14, 2016 I would, but I'd like to keep her as original as possible...as I wouldn't mind spending money on getting the original working, plus fit a new one somewhere else...best of both worlds then.
colr6 Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 We used to have a very good radio shop up here but then gone, shame really, cracking bloke and knew his stuff. But times change and not always for the best me thinks
Tackleberry Posted August 14, 2016 Author Report Posted August 14, 2016 Definitely, like you say...a throw away society. "Can't be bothered fixing it, I'll just get a new one". So, if anybody knows someone that can either fix it, or if there's a working one for sale..
YellowTaxi Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 Looks like an 80's Ford radio to me. Standard fare Ford radio. Lots on ebay and most go for under £30.
Admin Vista Posted August 15, 2016 Admin Report Posted August 15, 2016 This is a Capri one right? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-STEREO-RADIO-VINTAGE-GRANADA-CORTINA-TAUNUS-CAPRI-TRANSIT-USED-/371702177395?hash=item568b2d1e73:g:Fp4AAOSwnQhXo5DZ Check out these people too http://www.tadpoleradios.co.uk 1
bigdaz27 Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 I didn't want to put a modern stereo in my Granada so I brought a vintage pioneer ke-1300 Which was new old stock, I modified it buy disconnecting the tape head and pre amp to limit any distortion, and soldered an aux lead to the board so now when I put a tape in it cuts the stereo and plays the aux instead of the tape and sounds amazing and looks like good to did take a bit of head scratching tho, so aftermarket of the right period is another option and will probably be better quality and cheaper then a genuine ford stereo 2
skeeter Posted August 22, 2016 Report Posted August 22, 2016 I did the same with my radio, and then ended up paying an auto electrician to come and put it all back in. When asked who made the mess I went bright red and sort of mumbled something but he saw through me!! I learned a valuable lesson, I am a complete numpty. Ken
Tackleberry Posted August 27, 2016 Author Report Posted August 27, 2016 I've managed to completely disassemble my dash, get the old set out and managed to put it all back together without having any spare bits left over....result.

Tackleberry Posted August 28, 2016 Author Report Posted August 28, 2016 Yeah right......but the vacumns making funny noises now .....LOL Ah, now you come to mention it... All I've gotta do is fit a radio in the gaping hole I've left after removing the old unit..(stereo, not wife).
