chinkamon Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 So I got a tidy mk1 cortina She's stock all Apart from the lotus steels an a few inches lower Only thing is whilst I'm happy with the car, part of me wants a sleeper My old 1929 model A looked like something off the Waltons until I flicked a switched which uncorked the silencers then the 3.5 v8 was unleashed an i nailed it like a scalded cat Part of me misses that.. specially when the nob head in the corsa pulls up along side me haha So question is Do i replace the engine steering etc etc with something bigger and tastier ( suggestions please ) Or do I go for the tranquil life ( and the mpg) and just poodle along with a tidy stocker?? Or do I get a loan and BUY ANOTHER AS WELL HAHAHA
colr6 Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 Me personally would leave the car as is if it's nice and tidy and buy another to modify. Save destroying a nice std one. 1
chinkamon Posted February 6, 2017 Author Report Posted February 6, 2017 Yea that's my thoughts although I almost feel like I'd be cheating on her if I bought another toy haha Like she might get the hump an not start for me haha
chinkamon Posted February 6, 2017 Author Report Posted February 6, 2017 Yes mate thank you I found a place online that had perfect fitting battery ( width wise ) to go in the original battery tray. It was a 48ah 430cca with a 4 year guarantee for £50 delivered free next day!!
Admin Vista Posted February 6, 2017 Admin Report Posted February 6, 2017 Me personally would leave the car as is if it's nice and tidy and buy another to modify. Save destroying a nice std one. Ahem, http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/ipb/index.php?/topic/82455-the-big-buildcossy-tina/
chinkamon Posted February 6, 2017 Author Report Posted February 6, 2017 Ahem, http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/ipb/index.php?/topic/82455-the-big-buildcossy-tina/ Haha does that mean you regretted modifying your cortina colr6 haha
colr6 Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 NO, it was a left hooker and even though it was in very good bodily nick to try and source all the original parts to make a minter I would have got bored and penniless. Even though it hasn't been a cheap conversion I can do things how I want and not as was originally. Ideal example rack and pinion steering. Might stick to lorries there cheaper!! Apart from that it gives you lot something to read and pick to bits! 2
chinkamon Posted February 6, 2017 Author Report Posted February 6, 2017 Can certainly sympathise with the penniless bit!!!
Cortina ken Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 So I got a tidy mk1 cortina She's stock all Apart from the lotus steels an a few inches lower Only thing is whilst I'm happy with the car, part of me wants a sleeper My old 1929 model A looked like something off the Waltons until I flicked a switched which uncorked the silencers then the 3.5 v8 was unleashed an i nailed it like a scalded cat Part of me misses that.. specially when the nob head in the corsa pulls up along side me haha So question is Do i replace the engine steering etc etc with something bigger and tastier ( suggestions please ) Or do I go for the tranquil life ( and the mpg) and just poodle along with a tidy stocker?? Or do I get a loan and BUY ANOTHER AS WELL HAHAHA Hi mate i can relate to you on that, my tina looks stock but it shocks the boy racers when i unleash the 230 bhp pinto under the bonnet, then its smiles all the way 2
chinkamon Posted February 12, 2017 Author Report Posted February 12, 2017 Yea the little boys in their corsas used to poop themselves wen I unleashed my truck lol Part of me wants that again in the cortina but it is too nice to spoil in a way? Only got one garage an can't leave one on the drive in the English weather!
Cortina ken Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 Go for a strong pinto, mine has never been welded and as near mint as i have seen, the pinto fits great and will give you the fun you need, For more fun fit a lsd with the pinto for some great sidways action lll

chinkamon Posted February 12, 2017 Author Report Posted February 12, 2017 I'm not vastly knowledgeable about lsds or even Axles to be honest? Is there any best suited to mk1 cortinas or ones to avoid etc etc? I'm guessing the old original one In mine isn't going to like much abuse 1
puddy Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 English axle ( standard) is more than good enough for a pinto . I have a Tran x plated diff in mine ( 3 j now I think ) which I much prefer to a Quaife atb type. puddy 2
