An odd question I guess but have couple of plastic items like the washer bottle thats in good condition apart from it has gone yellow with age. Any suggestions to whiten it up? Any secret tooth whitening..... I mean bottle whitening that will brighten things? The strange part is that the brake fluid reservoir stayed white yet the water bottle went yellow, go figure?

Hi Rayy Pack,  have often used old bottles, I give them a good clean with washing up liquid and then leave them in bleach overnight, it brings then up as best as possible I find, not perfect like new but always so much much better than when you started anyway

I place a dishwaher tablet in mine and leave to soak i immersed water for 36 hours at 55'c

Then i fill them with milton sterilizing soloution and leave to soak for 24hrs at 40'c

Then i fill them with vodka and put them in freezer for 24hrs at minus 20'c

Then leave to thaw at room temp

Rinse the vodka out with distilled water

And l

They are as new ready to go

Thats a good time to get things sorted, when wifey goes shopping is a good time to fit a new starter ring gear using the freezer and cooker! while its heating up, wash your bottle in the sink with jif and hot water! :ykt:

Good to know. Apparently you can't use the home oven to fully cure heat proof paint on manifolds without an hysterical response either.

BTW Does anyone know how the washer motor come off the bottle? Is it just pressed in there?

The one on my Mk3 Tina is pushed into the bottle with a rubber grommet.
