Rick Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 iv been really looking into some of these concourse projects lately. i have so much respect for the people doing that kind of work its bloody amazing stuff. Theres such a big difference between a well done car and a concourse one. good examples: the green mexico in the rs edition of CF mag the twincam escort in retroford hell that guy even spot welded the original spots! id love to have a go one day when i have a spare 10 years and the experience to do so. cracking stuff!
RedditchJay Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 J The Lemans Green Mexico in this month's CF is Wayne Champions and it is as good as it looks, he was at the CF Show and Retro show at Santa Pod this year, his car MAY be on the AVO stand at the Classic Car show at the NEC this year, mine was on the stand last year but isn't planned to be. His car is 99.99% spot on, he drives it to all the shows........ Jay

I can appreciate the amount of hard work that goes into these cars/projects, and it is also very nice to see an unmolested example. Just reminds you how they used to/should be. But for me, I get more enjoyment out of seeing a car that is very well looked after some subtle/useful mods, and it gets driven everyday!!!
fezza Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 I have alot of respect for these people but i do agree with Darren,it gets to the point where these cars owe the owners so much money that they are afraid to use them,they end up only making an apperance at shows etc and are taken there on trailors then go back in the garage,down to what you want from your old skool ford at the end of the day

Leave the concourse or whatevers its called to museums! Like Darren said not knocking anyone, its keeping another old ford on the road so it is good BUT it just aint me!

tim Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 i helped build a mate fez RS1800 last winter,this year it has won its class in rs concourse,rs national day class winner,ford fair class winner and best standard car of the show and also won an auto glym round aswell this year. this car will never be driven on the road,it live in a air chamber and trailered to the shows concourse isnt to every 1 likin but the standard of car cant b knocked and it is keepin mint examples of the car alive aswell

If there wasn't concours cars out there, then the knowege of what a standard car would have looked like would be limited to old pictures & Magazine articles.

erick Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 There is a gen mk1 escort twin cam close to me, lives in a carcoon only used when mot then back into the carcoon, not be on the road for 15 to 20 years. Does my head in that the owner has not intention of using the car ever.
