Na, your bacca is safe Col. I'm from Essex, I would only smoke minty cigs held in a chrome plated, diamante encrusted ciggie holder, whilst wearing a white velvet glove don't you know.

Possibly whilst wearing white stilettos, these obviously dependent on whether it is the weekend or not, good thing is I don't have to change my name, as Kellye covers me at all times, which is handy.

We know how to live it up us Essex boys...

bit like the capri, everyone thinks its after the isle of capri, but alas no, ford name thinkers had to drop a letter and add letters over a few beers in the pub, it was supposed to say CRAP, but then went to CRAPRI after crap was considered too gentlemanly a name for SH1T design, and then it was shortened, because they didn't want ladies getting offended by both the car and its name

i can re-store one Colin, but it goes to show it wasn't worth taking out of storage in the first place, specially if you have to pay for the storage, that's why we invented breakers yards lol

well it takes an Essex man to get the link to work, but being half deaf these days I cant hear what's being said sadly

but I take it we look for Colin on Thursday morning as a man like an Andy Capp figure with a flat cap, roll up hanging from the corner of his mouth, a whippet in one arm a ferret in the other and a homing pigeon down his trousers, and at lunch time sits in the canteen eating mushy peas and drinking Yorkshire ale, and farting for England

and Stephen is easily distinguishable with the car that resembles a barn find after the drive up there in the rain

I'll be looking for these two suspicious characters both driving escorts.

I wouldn't dream of driving my car anywhere, I hate driving cars.

My car is completely rebuilt, with a 5-speed box and 2.1 engine, uprated brakes, etc. so I'm very happy taking it on motorways and putting some miles on it.

But, if I had a more original car, with say a 1.3 engine and 4-speed, I'd definitely think twice before driving it across the country.

back in the day, we drove a 1.3 everywhere, but today, I would be frightened fartless of having to stop at a motorway services and coming out to the car having been stolen

but as far as displaying the car at a show like the NEC, that car needs to arrive spotlessly clean, that cannot happen if you drive it there, especially this time of year

I have yet to see Colins Cortina, but however, if its like I imagine it to be, it will be clean enough in every crevice to eat your dinner off of, and that in itself tells you he has built a display car, not a daily driver, and like me, gets his pleasure from sitting looking at the car and saying, I built that, that's mine, and not through driving it all over, and like me would be distraught at the dirt getting where you cant get rid of it, let alone if it was involved in an accident or even worse, stolen

That's more like it gents, p1ss taking all the way - much more fun when we can all have some fun without the crying because someone hit your sensitive spot......:queer::mrgreen:

It will be a fun few days, well let's hope so anyway as we all stuck there now whatever.....:) .......And more than happy to be the barn find of the group.

So gents, how many of you have been to the NEC before, and with the trailer queen thing going on - do almost all cars arrive shrouded in pink fluffy trailers?

Just wanting to know as obviously as much as it pains me, Ray is correct my car could arrive looking like I have taken it for a spin along the mud flats of Southend On Sea, which won't be the greatest look especially up against all the pampered, covered, queens surrounding it?

Do they have any facility onsite for a quick wash or is it I will have to make do as best I can with a sealed bucket of soapy water and a ton of rags and towels?

With the recent waxing, it should clean up very easily, but I still need water at least for that?

Escort is only little Ray, can we not put that in my boot and then put the Crapi on the trailer.......

this is the first time ive taken my car to a show, so don't know what facilities if any they have there Stephen, but part of what I do is to take peoples cars to shows in the summer months, and they have them trailered there for the very reason of keeping them clean

Gary will be able to advise on what facilities they have, although where we are positioned, I think the toilets are not far away, just don't get caught trying to ram it down the pan and hoping it will flush away, although the capri is a piece of shit, its a bit too large for the average toilet :-D

on a more serious note, for emergency use, I will bring some turtle wax waterless wash and wax for you

Would have thought between the four of us we will be able to cover every eventuality, Polish / cloths / water and so on. Mines not coming on a covered trailor so if it pisses down I'm in the same boat.
