Fozzy48 Posted November 17, 2017 Report Posted November 17, 2017 So I have decided to see how my wheels would look spaced out, and I don't mean on drugs either. Has anyone got any spacers for sale. I'm wanting 25mm thick ones to fit my mk2 rs 2000. Let me know Cheers. Fozzy

Fozzy if your just wanting a look to have an idea of how it sits ive used some metal tube cut to length to give an idea of the size of the spacers needed. you will need longer wheel studs though.
colr6 Posted November 18, 2017 Report Posted November 18, 2017 I would refrain from using spacers as a final solution on drive wheels as they do have a habit of leaving them mangled up on the back of the wheel as slides off down the road on its own !

Fozzy48 Posted November 18, 2017 Author Report Posted November 18, 2017 Yes I am looking at hub centric ones and can get them easy enough. Was just seeing if anyone had any to sell maybe half the price then if it doesn't work I'll have to get a 52" axle. Cheers. Fozzy

Fozzy Have you enquired about different offset wheels to get over your problem ? Safer than spacers and cheaper than an axle.

I looked at some wheels today and they were coming out at about 130 quid each. That currently would be £50-100 less than an axle off ebay would cost. TBH I'm finding it quite frustrating as I have projects to do but don't seem to be able to make headway through various reasons. An axle would be the simplest method but as I'm not on ebay I can't make the enquiries I need. I spoke to a guy down Worcestershire who sells capri parts. He wants £450 for an axle. I'm currently running a 3.75 ratio but now thinking I might be better with a 3.44 after speaking with him. This is what I feel like doing most of the time. Cheers. Fozzy
colr6 Posted November 18, 2017 Report Posted November 18, 2017 Know what you mean, I'm chasing something trivial compared to you, needing some bulkhead flexible conduit connections in a couple of sizes which you would think as easy ....not so been all over the net no joy yet. Like you say it's frustrating when you need to move on with something.

Having said that, the way the weeks are flying by, it'll soon be over and my car will be still on stands. fozzy

Fozzy ive got a 3.75 in my axle and ive got a spare3.44 diff complete, open not lsd. so if you can find an axle case and shafts, i have a diff. maybe cheaper than a complete axle.

Hi bud, many thanks for the kind offer. Axle casings and shafts seem to be as expensive as the whole axle. I think I'm just gonna get one of my pals to make the guy on ebay in Donny an offer on one of his axles and see how it goes. Cheers. Fozzy
RWL81P Posted November 18, 2017 Report Posted November 18, 2017 just remember though, everything for an atlas is a lot more expensive than an english. got over 1200 quid in mine and not even put uprated shafts in yet!
Fozzy48 Posted November 21, 2017 Author Report Posted November 21, 2017 Looks like I am now sored with an axle. I was kindly given a pair of cosworth rear calipers by a member on here. Here are pictures of how they were when I got them to how they look now. They were dipped and stripped then a light coat of spray put on for the moment to stop rust. They've had a new set of seals and pistons fitted. Still got to put new flexible hoses on but this will be when I put them on the axle to find the length. Just shows what can be done with things that might otherwise have gone to the scrap man. Cheers. Fozzy 1
