some apple pie in a tipper hit my range rover today and drove off

he forced his way through parked cars and then tried to squeeze through a gap that wasnt big enough hitting the back of the rangie and just drove off

must be a bit of a prat though as it was sign written!!

went to the police station and reported it and they tried to find the blokes phone number but it wasnt listed and without the reg number they cant find out how to contact him!

went to see my brother and told him about it and one of his mates was there and he just had his garden landscaped by them so got the number

 

so i rang the guy up and he is going to ask his drivers who it was, he reckons they will own up as they are an honest bunch apparantly, yeah right, its not like they stopped is it

the company boss is coming round to look at it tomorrow and sort out the insurance details, but unfortunatly i think it will be written off due to its age

only taxed it today too

did take some pics it doesnt look too bad but has wrecked the rear corner panel so if he wants to go through insurance they will write it off because its an old tatty f reg if they do i will buy it back take the corner off my spares rangie as they only bolt on and repair it

will see if he will settle for cash and repair it myself if he will too.

and im gonna try to sell him a load of block paving when he comes round

i have another range rover im breaking so i will just take the corner off of that, will let the insurance company write it off first and then buy it back though

Twinkle, i have to ask but why claim anyway, theyl only write it off and offer you a paltry sum....

 

i would just settle for a few quid cash settlement of this guy...

if its a work horse pointless having it wrote off for that.

i would be carefull with that, many insurance companies have contracts (or should i say back hander deals) with salvage yards/recovery and storage firms, and both insurance companies and salvage yards profit rather nicely out of this, its the norm these days for the insurance company to not offer a resale on the salvage to the insured owner, ie, you wont get offered it back.

unfortunatly if the guy wants to go through insurance it will have to go that way, mot runs out in a few weeks time anyway so if i cant get it back it will save me doin a few bits to it and i will just use the money for another hack about. i was only originally gonna keep it til the mot ran out then break it but its been so reliable i had a change of heart and was gonna get another year out of it

the guy has just been round, no damage to his van but he has paid me some cash to repair it myself not a great amount but enough to cover the repair
