DT36 Posted January 27, 2019 Report Posted January 27, 2019 Just burnt my Black and Decker sander out prepping my landing, passage and stair walls for paint next weekend. Looking to buy a new one tomorrow to finish the last bits off. Prefer one that I can use in the garage as well on small bodywork jobs if needed. What have you guys got and would recommend?
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted January 27, 2019 Moderator Report Posted January 27, 2019 I used to buy the cheap Chinese ones from the Auto Spares and the plastic gear workings would just shatter. After three of these I thought I had almost spent the same as a good brand so just look at the bigger names and went with a Japanese Makita they offered a larger range of tools like powerfiles that alot of companies did not. It never broke in the same period I have previously used up three and still works properly to this day. Lesson learned,Never skimped on power tools since. What I have noticed though in every British show where someone is fixing something with a powertool is they always use the DeWalt brand. I'm guessing that one of the premium tool companies there. Never seen Makita on any shows so maybe brands have a very regional presence. Probably related to different voltages. 1
