Hi and good afternoon.

I am currently working on a boat engine called a Watermota. I hear you say this site is for cars however.

The Watermota engine is a 1600cc Ford Crossflow, which then undergoes modification to the head and front end to convert it to diesel !!!

So here's my question please, and apologies for being a bit dull.

I removed the cylinder head and had it plastic bead blasted etc. I am now re-building it and am at a lost as to which one is the inlet valve and which one the exhaust.

Any help please.

Funny this should come up I’ve just been asked if I look at a couple of Mermaid Meteor engines which from what I can gather are based around the escort Diesel engines.

Ford Mermaid engines, used to have them fitted to the Halmatic Pacific 22 RIBS I drove in the RN. Generally reliable, but not especially powerful. TBH the best thing to happen to those RIBs was junking the Mermaid in favour of a Yanmar.
