Kim Posted March 3, 2019 Report Posted March 3, 2019 Hi and good afternoon. I am currently working on a boat engine called a Watermota. I hear you say this site is for cars however. The Watermota engine is a 1600cc Ford Crossflow, which then undergoes modification to the head and front end to convert it to diesel !!! So here's my question please, and apologies for being a bit dull. I removed the cylinder head and had it plastic bead blasted etc. I am now re-building it and am at a lost as to which one is the inlet valve and which one the exhaust. Any help please.
caprimk1v4 Posted March 3, 2019 Report Posted March 3, 2019 Hi, The smaller valve is the Exhaust valve, so large is inlet. All to do with volumetric efficiency. Good engine the Watermota.
colr6 Posted March 3, 2019 Report Posted March 3, 2019 Funny this should come up I’ve just been asked if I look at a couple of Mermaid Meteor engines which from what I can gather are based around the escort Diesel engines.

Ford Mermaid engines, used to have them fitted to the Halmatic Pacific 22 RIBS I drove in the RN. Generally reliable, but not especially powerful. TBH the best thing to happen to those RIBs was junking the Mermaid in favour of a Yanmar.
colr6 Posted March 3, 2019 Report Posted March 3, 2019 This things supposed to have two of these fitted, hope it doesn’t turn out to be a long job. Me and water don’t get on I’m afraid🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
