Get the old stuff off with paint stripper or a wire brush bit in an electric drill, then get some decent heat/oil/fuel resistant paint and splash it on.

I think Frost do some & in genuine Ford colours too

I've got a block that's had the same coat of paint for 7 years & it's only now that I'm re-doing it.

Engine paint for iron blocks, ive had excellent results with brush on smoothrite in blue/black/red before, the only place it wont work is around the exhaust ports.

steel or ally just polish it up  .

any pressed steel parts should be blasted and either pollished or use spray on paint.

the lazy b,stard route is a good clean and satin spray the lot.
