Phil Your only about the second or third from NZ that I have seen to post in the past couple of years and that's only sporadically. Your posts are the only regular New Zealander origins in that same period of time. Sorry but while it seems a bit of a lonely NZ world here at the moment that's not specifically about New Zealand its the same all over. While 99% of Membership is in the UK, there are members from all over Europe, Australia, South Africa and even the USA have joined. The good part being they don't mind where you are from! I dont think you will find anywhere more knowledgeable especially with the finer points of country of origin model differences like you have had with a South African Car. So apart from the UK the forum only sees a few members from each outside country with one exception being a great and sizable Netherlands crew. Unfortunately, like membership, parts availability is also 99% centred in the UK and there are no quick fixes for your Escort if non consumable parts are involved.
Pbsmk2 Posted January 10, 2021 Author Report Posted January 10, 2021 Fair comment, one of the things I was looking at is parts specialists here. By word of mouth I’ve found 2 more suppliers here that specialise in classic Fords, but they don’t advertise so I’d never heard of them. Pleased I did when Repco were quoting $77 for an inlet manifold gasket and I scored inlet and exhaust gaskets for $9.95.

From what I can gather a lot of the in country parts trade for Escorts takes place through the club scene in New Zealand. I had one approach us for details about LED bulb replacements for Mk2 instrument clusters so he could market them through his club there.
Admin Vista Posted January 10, 2021 Admin Report Posted January 10, 2021 There are more Kiwis registered than you think, many of them don't stick around when they work out it's primarily UK / European though. Here's a few more from just the 1st page when you do a forum wide search for "New Zealand" Kiwi Mk2 GT Brettj Ivan Rusty 360 Kiwisurf
Law83 Posted January 11, 2021 Report Posted January 11, 2021 Hi my name is Lawrence. I've just moved to NZ, have been here for almost a year. I have a Mk1 Escort Estate. Only place I've found that has quite a good range of Classic Ford parts is Palmside.co.nz in Christchurch. I'd also love to find a workshop where I can work on my car myself as I don't have a garage where I'm renting.
Pbsmk2 Posted January 15, 2021 Author Report Posted January 15, 2021 Hi Lawrence, welcome along. where in nz are you?
