Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted December 31, 2021 Author Moderator Report Posted December 31, 2021 The British Made Stainless caps arrived from Complete Radiator Supplies safe and well. I posted a link to them above asking if anyone had dealt with them before. I must say Andrew at CRS went over and above any regular service one would expect just for a few radiator caps. He wrote and discussed things in numerous emails at a service level you rarely see these days and certainly not here anywhere in Australia. I cannot hesitate to recommend if you have any challenging issues regarding caps or cooling systems. You can email Andrew on radiatorsupplies@gmail.com or visit their website https://www.rc-supplies.co.uk/ The British made stainless caps are very smart with a more rustic classic look to them rather than being as highly polished as the Fah-ler ones. They lock in a fair bit tighter than the Fah-ler ones as well and just need to be opened and closed a couple of times to get them to loosen up for easy release. As mentioned the Fah-ler ones have a great mirror finish on them especially down the side of the cap if you want more of a street machine look but even a slight hand polish of the British ones bring them up nicely that im sure if you want a mirror finish they could be polished up further. So which to choose? I think the dark shadow over the Fah-ler ones is in trying to get the original ones not the Chinese knockoffs that caused me so much trouble. The proper Turkish made originals work perfectly but getting them from a reliable source and determining if they are the genuine will place a barrier up to most people. So while I do like the highly polished finish of the Turkish ones I would buy the English ones without hesitation, they are both cheaper and readily supplied through Complete Radiator Supplies. Packaged as allstar performance with no stant markings other then on the label. This is what the ebay ad shows. Im a bit disappointed as i want to use a stant cap for the quality. Im finding it strange i can not find a standard radiator stant replacement cap, or even part numbers so i can chase up the correct one. Too much time and worry for such a small issue but i feel i have to solve it, ive emailed burtons to see if this works with a grp4 radiator. GRP4 themselves said they use a stant 30130 cap but that is rated 18-22psi. Not sure how that would work on my standard pinto. https://www.burtonpower.com/stant-radiator-cap-16-psi-with-release-lever-11330-stant.html Email Andrew at Complete Radiator Supplies with your measurements and Im sure he will come up with a solution for you. They seem happy to ship to Australia as well which isn't always the case.
Nursebetty Posted January 1, 2022 Report Posted January 1, 2022 Thanks for the suggestion, ill see what burtons and the ebay supplier say and go from there. I feel somewhat justified in my frustration in knowing someone else has gone through this! I really liked the look of my non lever stant cap but its just the wrong size, heartbreaking 1

I really liked the look of my non lever stant cap but its just the wrong size, heartbreaking The red plastic lever on my Stant one seem to deteriorate over time and then just snapped off so I went to the regular type after that. I have a Fah-ler lever cap on my Twincam but it has a period look that works ok with that but didnt really suite the Mk2, not sure if its a knock off though but at least that one seals where as the others didn't Note - Andrew from CRS emailed me to said that if anyone wants the more polished look like that of the Fah-ler caps he is able to provide that service if asked just let him know when purchasing. Its seems most prefer the original stainless finish of the British caps rather than being highly polished for a more authentic look but the option is there if anyone wants it. A nice hand polish gave mine a nice compromise.

I peeled the sticker off my natrad one and its actually pretty nice and feels well made. Well better then my old one and just as nice as the stant cap i had. In that time hopefully the ebay seller comes back with some info, ie im hoping they have these caps made by stant etc
Johnny Boy Posted January 3, 2022 Report Posted January 3, 2022 You should be able to get your money back with ebay, as its not as pictured/described.
Johnny Boy Posted January 3, 2022 Report Posted January 3, 2022 Not a stant one , but the stuff car builder solutions sell is good quality. and they sell other versions. https://www.carbuilder.com/uk/stainless-13lb-pressure-release-radiator-cap
Johnny Boy Posted January 3, 2022 Report Posted January 3, 2022 If they have what you want, but won't post, or its expensive to post , to Australia, let me know, I can have it delivered to me , and post on to you.

Thanks so much for the offer. this is the sticker peeled off the natrad cap which i think actually looks nicer then i thought it would. Ive contacted the ebay seller requesting a refund so will see how that pans out, just a bit annoyed all that time and effort to get what i wanted was wasted really.
Nursebetty Posted January 23, 2022 Report Posted January 23, 2022 Seller refunded the cap, So im told Stant has been sold and the new owner is phasing out their branding, they could not tell me if the new caps are made in the same place or to the same standard. photo of the rad and cap installed. 1
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted January 23, 2022 Author Moderator Report Posted January 23, 2022 Seems crazy to buy out a well known brand name then phase it out for a more obscure one. Odds on this is Chinese takeover and the quality wont be there any more.
Nursebetty Posted January 23, 2022 Report Posted January 23, 2022 purchased by motorad im told, who knows. But yes its annoying.
