Removing old underseal....

whats the best method? is it a scraper and hot air gun? and whats best to replace it with schutz or wayoil?? cheers

Gently heat the opposite side of the panel where posible,

 

I use a propane bottle with a blow lamp, with a sensible flame, then the underseal scrapes off with, as you said a scraper.

 

The re-treatment is up to you, as what you find as the best looking ect.

 

My sugestion is to shults, as you will more than likely take off some paint when removing the original underseal, and wax oil tends to be more translucent, but I guess you will see and deside as and when.

cheers bud, im doing one end at a time and the majority of the scraping is in the wheel arches and up where the axle sits as I did the rest a couple of years back. The wax oil i put on (as u say) looks a bit messy as I couldnt help but scrape back some of the paint in places so i think i'll go for the black stuff all over and do a propper job of it while its on the stands.

 

is the schultz any good for doing the internal box sections etc or should i stick to waxoil here? I have got a pipe attachment thing with my lance but wonder if anything thicker than wax oil would clog it up.

just good old hard work mate,

 

there are no 'quick' methods.

 

once 95% brush thinmners all over it and wipe it clean

 

then bury it in stoneguard

 

i wouyldnt use body shutz as it remains tarlike forever and youl never be able to paint any of it up (if your that way inclined)

 

will do the job though i guess

if its hard i find a sharp chisel helps to chip it off

The best way although the messiest if you cant get heat on it, is use an angle grinder with a wire head, wear a face shield tho!!!! safety first!!
