E coating

I am just asking if any  member has had any first hand  experience or knows of anyone that has had their restoration  projects E coated  to protect the bodywork for the future  to make it more corrosion resistant . Is it worth considering ? I have seen it done on one of the car programmes ( car sos  i think it was ) but not sure though . Just asking for members thoughts or knowledge on the subject .

Well, the OEM's don't do it because they like spending money and as most offer 10+ year anti corrosion warranties, there is the benefit - whether a 40 / 50 year old car with 'paper thin steel', doing limited & salt free mileage can warrant the cost is debatable, against maybe flooding cavities with Waxoyl after paint and using other surface protections that weren't available in the 70's? If I was doing an extensive resto with lots of new panels and the shell was being dipped then I think E coating would be an automatic choice, as even if sprayed with primer immediately after dip cleaning, it doesn't get into the hidden cavities and so the rot cycle starts & repeats itself!

☝️ this, particularly the final paragraph.....though I did have mine dipped and e-coated and still had problems with corrosion coming through some of the seams a year or two later
