Braided hoses

Need to get some braided brake pipes...How much will I need for a Mk2 Escort? Incl. hydraulic handbrake and rear discs.

i got the hoses and fittings from a company called exact engineering tel no is 01803 866 464 i think they're in devon they were the cheapest i found and very helpful, i made them up myself but if you tell them how long you want the hoses they will fit them up for you, i've still got the catalogue on cd which i can lend if you want or they might send you one.

Have they got a website?I can't tell how long I need yet,but I'll try and measure later.

no they dont seem to have one but when you call there really helpfull in all ways, if you send them the old ones they'll match em up as well

Problem is I don't have old ones cos we done a rear disc conversion.

Does the quality look ok? plated fittings etc? - I'm building mine without any copper, yes yes ker-ching...

Think Automotive or Goodridge,both very good suppliers and very helpfull.Its so simple to make up the hose sets,they bolt together!

Ive always found it best to buy a length of hose and cut it to size on the car,in fact order a bit more than you need(its the cheapist part!) as you will be suprised how quick it goes when you take the neatist routes so it looks good when your done. Also cover the braided hose with either a clear covering or ,what I prefer,heat shrink wrap.This stops the braid from chaffing away anything it touches.

Choice of fittings is either plated(read will rust!) or stainless steel(the best but expensive),never ever fit alloy fittings,they corrode and snap.

The choice is yours,but do try doing it by buying the hose and fittings and making it yourself,it is so simple to do.

you'll need the catalouge then all sizes listed and thread types come in stainless plated and aluminium but the last is not recomended for road use due to the salt either pm me address and i'll send you a copy if you can send back when finished with or call them and thell send you your own
