Just a thought, but I wouldn't count on that Meguiar's kit being a freebie until you've seen the offer terms yourself. Screenshots of subscription pages can be a bit misleading, and the gift offers often vary by issue or by whether it's a new or renewal sub.

Vista's right that it's worth emailing them, though I'd do it before paying so you've got the offer confirmed in writing. If the QR code is sending people to the wrong page, they'll probably want to know about that anyway.

If you can't get a straight answer, you could always just pick the kit up yourself and tell your dad it's from you. Probably safer for the garage stash too.
