Ha, the "shitter" bit made me laugh. Up here in the north we'd say a "nail" or a "blender" too, so it sounds like it's a pretty universal bit of old-school slang for a banger you use for getting about. Fair play to Matt LeBlanc, though. A tidy old motor that gets you from A to B is a lot more honest than rolling up in a supercar just because the papers expect it. Half the time the cars people brag about are the ones that spend more time in the garage than on the road.
