I buy a lot of stuff in Northern Ireland.I live in the Republic of Ireland,do I have to pay the VAT for goods I buy in NI?

Is it part of the EU? you can claim VAT back when you purchase goods for export out of the EU, but not if the destination country is part of the EU. I fell foul of this once when I bought something expensive in Cyprus expecting to be able to claim the local sales tax back. Unknown to me it became part of the EU 3 weeks previously

NI is definitely part of the EU as it's part of the UK, I'm afraid therefore you've no way of claiming the VAT back.
