How many people here have an XE powered ford?? I was wondering if there was anyone going to the Ashford meet on Saturday with one, would they take me out for a spin?? It's just that they definatly seem to be the cheapest way to break the 200 bhp barrier and i'm considering doing it in the near future.

well said

I agree! but on the quest for more horsepower, not all of us can go YB turbo with atlas axle's and 5-link kits and expensive intercoolers etc. I just cant decide what to do next to up the power. Here are my options:

1) XE ( all the conversion parts are around £1500, + engine = 180-190 BHP)

2) Send my head back to vulcan to get more work done + Kent HT1 cam = 180-190 BHP (costs £500 plus vat but will my 2.1 bottom end cope??)

4) Look into going N/A cossie with a worked head onto my 2.1 bottom end. = 200+ BHP but i hear this is VERY expensive!!

5) Any more options that anyone can think of??

You're quite right, vauxhall drivers do drink horlicks and read broadsheet newspapers, you're to be commended for admitting it.

Now, my pinto may not have 200bhp, (though it aint far off and already outputs more than an XE in stock trim) but it's all OLD SKOOL, no twin cam turbo charge ecu new fangled nonsense for me :lol:

i got XE in my mk2 escort 8) would be nice if it was a ford but it aint and face facts the XE is a better engine lb for £ than a pinto or a zetec :D

worse still my mk1 has a rover engine - same goes nice if it was ford but you cant pick many ford engines up that make 200bhp for £100 :D

for cheap power, i drop a 2.8 v6 in my tinas, id never go vauxhall!!!! what about the latest zetecs or duratec whatever there called?? any good :?:

Who cares what make the XE is....they are good, reliable, fast engines...

I have one, and have also had a modded Pinto, and to be honest the XE is MUCH better!

That is just my opinion mind you...

(Just got to get round to finishing the bloody thng now!)

One of me mates has just dropped an american 2.3 duratec in his mk1 8)

The heads are ment to flow loads better in standard form compaired to a ported XE, Dont know how true it is but everyone seems to be ranting about them
