Admin Vista Posted March 21, 2007 Admin Report Posted March 21, 2007 Ummmmm I'm confused mate, didn't you post recently that you'd decided to try for your first mini daggle? Or is that an ex - partner you're divorcing? Just had a look at what you're referring too, Immediate 30% cut in band B of vehicle excise duty to £35, matched by moving the top band 30% higher to £300 and to £400 next year. it's the top vehicles that are going up to £300 then £400 vehicle duty per year, surely your Focus ST doesn't qualify in that high a group does it? There are large reductions effective immediately for the lower group cars as well though aren't there? Though admittedly personally I'd rather pay £400 than drive something that qualifies in the low end of the scale
Admin Mk2Jo Posted March 21, 2007 Admin Report Posted March 21, 2007 So what is a gas guzzler then in the eyes of Mr Brown?? Is it 2litre and above then?? In that case I have two lots of £300 to find

In that case I have two lots of £300 to find No, I don't know how old your Subaru is but your Escort will remain taxation class PLG and I doubt that will have gone up to that, it would alienate too many people

Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Daggle, I feel as strongly as you mate. There is no way I can afford a house, so I am lucky to live at home, so, my money goes on my cars. The bloke is taking the proverbial biscuit here, the motorist being the easy target as usual. Fuel duty goes up again - no surprise & RFL goes up astronomically. I have said for ages about Labour giving us a dictatorship to live in, and it is made quite clear in the budget. You can't smoke or drink, you can't drive, or should I say wont???? It is even going one stage further by them proposing to put labels on various sizes of clothing to suggest to customers that they are obese - WTF!!! It is time us as a nation, the UNITED KINGDOM stand up to these clowns of government and show them the f***ing dorr. If you don't vote, please please vote at the next election to get these f***ing idiots called Labour out! By not voting, you will simply be keeping them in power. Oh yeah, while we are at it, lets get Mr. Blairs batty boy Mr. Livingstone - the London Dictator out as well. This will be a better country without Labour robbing our hard earned. WE NEED TO MAKE A STAND AS MOTORISTS, AND WE NEED TO MAKE IT NOW!!!

Though admittedly personally I'd rather pay £400 than drive something that qualifies in the low end of the scale Yes, we are trying for a mini daggle, the ex-Mrs Daggle, (I am in the process of getting divorced) its all very amicable and neither of us will admit adultrey in order to get a 'quickie' therefore I have to wait 2 years for a seperation order, in those 2 years that I have had to wait, I met the new Miss Daggle, who we have decided between us that we want to have a mini-daggle... Hope that makes sense..... As for the tax, well the last time that I paid, it cost me £190, looking at the DVLA web site that puts my car in the top band, therefore I am paying top whack!!
johnny_h Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 So glad I am tax free! At least he's going to reduce income tax!

This is something Brown & Blair do not understand. They don't want you to drive these cars, they want everyone in busses or cabs. Erm, NO. They are our own cars, we have rights, and one of those rights is to drive what we want, not to be TOLD what to drive Plus I will be a member of the plastic soon, hence the OSTT - Coming Soon in my sig

Lets just say, i will be able to get the bodywork done on the Capri while I am also building the new engine for the Anglia BTW, thinking about it now, perhaps it should be NSTT

Now it's being publicised as coming in to effect in April 2008 Now call me old fashioned but next April is in 10 days time not 2008!!!!
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Old Skool Trumpet Trousers LOL, would you like to see the trumpet in my trousers of Old Skool style Jo?????? Daggle, I have always wanted a Transit Tipper, my mates think it is the ideal weapon of choice for me as they call me a pikey Vista, I book you right there mate. If it is April 2008, why didn't he hold the budget this April??? Brown is a moron and a t***er IMHO!!!!
sporty-corty16v Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 any one know what group a 2.5 alfa 156 falls in cos i cant afford 400 per year tax and no one will buy a car if tax that hi so its pretty much worthless
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 To be totally honest mate, I don't think these new rules will apply to vehicles older than 2000 or 2001, because it was from these years that all vehicles had their emissions data printed on their log books. Make no mistake though, the older motors tax will go up another fiver or so
105Nick Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 The ridiculous thing is thatreally p*sses me off is that Blaior and his cronies in government live in London, and seem to do this whole 'get people out of cars thing going on the basis that they are surrounded by the nations only functional public transport infastructure. If they actually spent any time living in the country thy'd all keel over. I think most of us agree that we use our cars a: as hobby, and for most the OSF is relegated to pleasurable weekend use, hence we enjoy them and they have minimal effect on the environment/congestion. b; we have to get to work, and go about our daily duties. I work in Canary Wharf, however I live on the furthest point of the Thames estuary, I wouldn't consider ever driving in, for a start the congestion on the A2 is madness and seeing bikes scraping up between cars and the number of accidents I wouldn't want to risk it, plus it would cost me more than my monthly ticket compared to petrol being used sat in the jams unable to use the bus lanes, and parking it here too, plus its not an enjoyable drive and would cause more stress than its worth. However, I have to get up at 6am to catch the coach at 6.55, in order to be at work by 9am, and I return from leaving work at 5.30 at 7.15pm and the total cost for a monthly ticket is £217 The problem is, if I fail to catch that coach, I have to wait for the bus and living here, the bus company refuse to take any responsibility. The timetable just has a list of stops, no times of busses and the bus leaves around quarter past the hour, except, it turns out at 8 when it comes on the hour, so pretty much if i miss the next one, it comes almost two hours later. It also runs through all the villages, so a journey into the closest town, which is 15 minutes by car is around 40 mins by bus, and get this, a SINGLE journey ticket costs me £4 no return!!!! There's also the fact that, well quite often I'vebeen on a bus, or waiting for a bus, and due to reasons of laziness, the drivers opted to miss stops or entire villages, I've waited three hours once! On a Sunday the busses run every two hours from certain stops that isnt specified, and on return I'd have to call my dad or pay £15 taxi as the busses only run till 6pm or thereabouts so I'm told. That's not mentioning that once in town I have to pay £10 for a single or £20 return, providing I'm ultra-late and have missed the peak travel times, then a further £4 single or £8 on the tube to work, by which time leaving at 7pm I'd be in work at 11.30. The funny thing is, that our village was a tourist resort in the sixties and had its own railway branch line to London, which was closed down by the government in 1967, now they're telling us to use them when we cant as they've taken them all away!
caprifan Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 ...I thought the change in tax was for vehicles built from next April onwards ?!? may have heard it wrong though...... the classification is based on emissions not drive system Jo, with the age of your scooby I doubt much will change for you... ...oh and Jimbob I whole heartedly agree with you
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 ...I thought the change in tax was for vehicles built from next April onwards ?!? may have heard it wrong though...... the classification is based on emissions not drive system Jo, with the age of your scooby I doubt much will change for you... ...oh and Jimbob I whole heartedly agree with you YKT You are probably right mate about the extra tax coming in from next April, that does make sense, and is obviously a bit that I have missed. But anyone with a vehicle that has NO emissions data on the log book can consider themselves safe........ For Now at least!!!
mk2_escort_chick Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 This is getting beyond a joke now! We (motorists) seem to be the easiest people to target- It really frustrates me! I find it hard enough to get through each month being a student with a poorly paid part time job and I have to fill my car with petrol, pay my insurance off and obviously mot and tax. If Jo's scooby dooby doo isn't effected then neither should mine, but i'd be fooked if i had a newer car. Its just getting beyond a joke!
Twinkle Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 its gonna kill off a lot of useable classics, how many of you for example could afford to run a 2.8 capri as a second or even a third car as a hobby when you have to pay £400 in tax for maybe a couple of thousand miles a year?
