  1. Never got mine out but was doing a bit of cleaning and a few final bits ready for the MOT on monday. So will have it out tomorrow

  3. im just in romford. I have been waiting to get the car running so i could do some of the meets and the 8 ball diner was one i definatly want to do but im away from the 28th till the 2nd but will definatly be at the next one. will be at CF show hope to meet some of you OSF lads thanks for the invite.
  4. I must say a massive thanks to colin at ashton mobile for getting my escort up and running. Colin was the third person to come and look at my car the first person spent about an hour and half just about got it running but not well and the next day it would not start. The second person didnt even get it running. colin turned up pulled the ignition system out put it back changed some wiring and there was life. colin then played about with the carb, set the timing and it now fires on the button all within a hour of being there . He is a real nice bloke he gave me loads of advice of things that should be done within my engine bay. would reccomend to anyone and dont think i would ever use anyone else. You get all that at a brillent price. Just cant wait to see the my twin 40s he left with to do a full rebuild for me. BIG THANKS

  6. I tested at the coil there is 12v with the ignition on but when I turn the car over it never went above 8v I guess because the starter is taking most of the power.??? Thanks

  11. i have been told the cable i have running from the battery in the boot is to small can anyone tell we what size and type of cable someone told me to just use cable people use for in car sound systems is this ok. its running an edge starter on a crossflow thanks
  12. i was told harnesses should not be mounted to the rear seat points because of the angle of the belt would be nearly 45deg angle and they should only be about 5deg off level officially. i had mine on the rear seats but have now fitted to the rear shelf with the big nuts with backplates on the. hope this helps
  13. This is all the info off burton power. That's where I got it from but it's just stopped working after the engine rebuild. ELECTRONIC BOSCH DISTRIBUTOR KIT ROAD/RALLY TYPE: X/FLOW, PRE-X/FLOW & BDA. CONSTANT ENERGY NON-VACUUM TYPE/SIDE ENTRY CAP. These kits use a fully reconditioned Bosch electronic type distributor. They are fitted with an integral electronic ignition module bolted to the distributor body. Each distributor has a modified advance curve to suit fast road/rally specification and is non-vacuum. The kit is supplied complete with constant energy Bosch coil and wiring harness. Where using on vehicles fitted with a ballast resistor, the ballast must be by-passed to provide 12v at the coil. The kits are supplied with a side entry cap. A surcharge will be incurred pending return of a suitable Bosch electronic old unit. CUSTOMER MUST SUPPLY SUITABLE ELECTRONIC BOSCH UNIT - NO OLD UNITS AVAILABLE. CONSTANT ENERGY NON-VACUUM TYPE/SIDE ENTRY CAP. ROAD/RALLY SPEC. APPROX.STATIC IGN.TIMING: 14deg.BTDC. USE OE CLAMP FROM BOSCH OR MOTORCRAFT DISTRIBUTOR
  14. yes theres power there not sure how much because i only have a 12v test lamp. will try to get a digital voltage tester tomorrow to test but like i say there is definatly power there. Thanks
  15. i have a mk2 escort with a 1600 crossflow in it with electronic ignition but i got no spark i have put a brand new coil on it but still no spark i tightened all the earths to the chassie but still nothing. any ideas would be great. thanks

Finally getting my car back on the road just got a couple of things to sort so I need help I had a pre engaged starter on my crossflow in my mk2 escort I dissconnect that and installed I high torque gear reduction starter (edge) I connected the main cable from the battery and the cable thats from the ignition. It works it turns over but there was a third cable that had a round push fit connector on it but there is no where to put it on the new starter. Any help would be very appreciated Thanks
  20. they are safe i used 1 to get my escort when i bought it but legally the car on the dolly has to have Tax, mot and insurance. but i never heard of anyone being stoped.

  22. i had loads of hassle with starters when my crossflow was rebuilt i ended up just buying a edge high torque gear reduction starter from burtons was about £250 but sorted all problems.

  24. yes you can i have one from smith and dekins (dont think thats how you spell it)also well made.
