  1. My 1600xflow had the 50mm round rubber mounts on it ,in mk2 escort and that was 16xflow from new in Aussie ,not swopped from 1100 etc
  2. Thanks ,I have fitted the new fuel lines yesterday and waiting on pump ,maybe tomorrow hopefully. At the moment I am fitting new battery cables to have battery in the boot also.I have drilled 24mm holes in boot floor, near the curved sides and grommets fitted with 13mm battery cable (16mm outside approx), just need battery box.I have cut off switch ready to fit also.Anf fitting fuse to battery cable ,thinks its 250amp but not sure on actual draw down when cranking.I can always change the fuse afterwards. Its bolt in jobbie with nice plastic snap on cover etc.It takes the battery lug fittment with m8 nuts.Just need to get lend of lug crimper but my mate has one tomorrow as its Paddys Day here today.Slowly getting there but still loads to do.I have it cranking over now so when fuel pump arrives it might finally fire up.Eureka !!
  3. I am no expert either on electrics but I can do most work but I think relay would be good idea. Most cars have fuel pump relays fitted from new ,possibly for the voltage load.Plus relay can be controlled from ignition switch etc,I would expect live from key?? and then it cuts off when key is switched off.Sounds good??
  4. I ordered the interuptor type pump from DanSt engineering and it has 8mm inlet/outlet but Dan sems to know his buisness so I got 8mm plastic hard fuel line with just rubber/reinforced braided interior, for both ends (carbs and pump).Any advise
  5. Thanks Lads, sounds like bike pump is the way to go.
  6. Hi Blu Ass ,thats interesting that they switch off when pressure reaches it max.Presume they are strong enough to drive Zetec but I would think so Thanks Colr6 you are correct as I was using Mazda mx5 pump(injection) inline just to see if it would fire up.I have electric aftermarket pump but the bike pump suggestion seems good??
  7. How do I check the floats to see if they are stuck?? Or will light tap of screwdriver handle unstick them? Also the fuel was coming out the breather hose when needles/floats were stuck. Is this not fire hazard and any suggestions for overcoming the risk? Its approx 13mm breather outlet so could it be run somewhere in case of future sticky floats etc? Its just the coil/HT leads in under the carbs so bit risky or should I put coil elsewhere. (Zetec in mk2 escort)
  8. It must be catching .I too am fitting Keihin? Kawasaki zxr carbs to my Zetec to day and when I put pump on the fuel spewed out the top white T piece which I believe is breather and not fuel return.
  9. Any Classic Ford for November 2010.Lotus Cortina on the front cover.I am interested in the bike carb/zetec set up story/info
  10. I have been following this story only since last year but its rotten ,the things some children/parents have to go through.Sad end unfortunately.I am thinking of Aimi and say few prayers.
  11. Check out www.donedeal.ie, some Irish ones and ex Uk cars also in various conditions etc. Also good value for your pound.
  12. Ah I think the bike carbs sound great also.In saying that I have not got my Blacktop in yet so wont be running for few weeks at least.
  13. Check out Dan Stengineering for inlet/bike carbs etc, might suit you
  14. Its only a suggestion but any chance the inner track rod arm is unscrewing from the rack when turning the track rod itself.Probably not but just in case. Cant see the teeth on the rack getting damaged. If everything else is tight, like arms from hubs, it cant "adjust" itself.
  15. Thanks Rally Pack 2000. Good info and interesting. My car was 1.6 crossflow originally ,manual ,with beige leatherette interior and full door cards as suggested. In process of fitting 2.0Blacktop and type 9, 5 speed at moment but its slow ,waiting on bits etc.I did cut out the rad panel yesterday to accomodate alloy GRP4 type rad with leccy fan.Awkward to cut out in situ but got there eventually so now I have to make up filler section to suit the cut out.I am mocking it up in light aluminium first to get template etc. I agree with you re power steering on escort.I dont like it .Lads here use the Opel/Vauxhall Corsa power stee ring coulum/motor/ecu etc but looks out of place in old Skool car. Keep it simple.!!
  16. Just on a seperate note ,you rmember I have Aus car also. Why does the drivers side chassis have strenghtening plate at chassis leg and floor and passengers side does not .Unusual ??. Or is it just the driver Ford are worried about in a crash ?? Also although the are the heavy duty/RS shell they dont have the large tunnel or radiatir/front panel RS type cut out for radiator? My car is mint bar the Satin Spruce colour.Really no welding needed whatsoever.Credit to your excellant climate. Also rear seats seem thicker/more comfortable than Uk spec cars.
  17. Tiger Sports cars has new bellhousings, alloy 164 pounds approx ,maybe plus vat ? What does SP charge for the type 9 upgrade aprox

  20. Ok so I bit the bullet, booked tickets to Goodwood and staying in Crowne Plaza Gatwick.I will get car hire sorted tomorrow so we,re on the way........Thanks for the advice lads. I will have to increase the prices of the mx5 parts for next few months ( mx5 breaker in Dublin)
  21. Myself and my oldest lad would love to go to Goodwod but its mega expensive from Ireland ie ferry/drive/hotels/tickets etc etc(approx 1500pounds) Or do it the cheap way....Ryanair to Gatwick ,estate car hire , drive to Goodwood (1.25hrs approx) sleep in the car for 2 nights, yes dodgy but great value, eat and drink on site, drive back to Gatwick and fly home.(approx 500 pounds)(saving 1000pounds, to spend on my Escort) Mid Summer ,june 23/26th so presumably warm ...Several restaurants etc on site and Bar hopefully. Am I mad or old skool on the cheap ??? I often slept in cars /vans at rallies etc and it worked out ok.
  22. Check out www.DanSt engineering. They make some .I got my Zetec one from them and its great job.
