  2. Fitted new bike pump. All ok and started straight away. Interesting the old pump was dead when in the car and ok when put across a battery. Made all new connections so should be ok. Fitted a thermostat from a mini that opens at 72 degrees. Had to reduce diameter with the angle grinder by about 3 mm to fit. Got the electric fan to switch on as well so getting ready for a bit of winter time motoring. The 12v solenoid that operates the bike carb choked failed again I think it's not man enough for the job. A more heavier duty one has been sourced.
  3. So,fitted better solenoid to operate the choke and appears all ok.fitted some large plastic trumpets with no air filters.its amazing how big a difference different air filters can make to bike carbs. Going to the rolling road 28th October for setting up at the Moseley old creamery garage. Car runs better with mini thermostat which opens about early 70 degrees.heaters are nice and warm.

  6. How do I get it out. It has snapped about 1 mm below the surface of the head and is at an angle. How does one go about removing said snapped stud from the head.

    red kite

When I was a bird spotter in late 70,s the red kite was confined to a small area in wales under very strict protection and maybe 60 birds. I now see them every week and it's a great conservation story. Many hundreds of years ago they scavenged in the streets of London but were were blamed for disease and hence they were killed. In Hong Kong they have black kites scavenging and nest on the high rise block. Goshawks are becoming rarer these days

  9. You can buy zetec manifolds to take 2 x SU carbs , modern meets old in a funny sort of way. The ebay listing as i mentioned is for carb and manifold and its not a precrossflow weber as you correctly pointed out. More like a dgv but still a great carb.

  11. You can do alot with a twin choke weber to make it perform. Clean up the plenum under the carb as the casting can be rough. Knife edge the butterflies Chick away the choke piss flaps Change the linkage so both chokes open at the same time All the above will add up to a noticeable difference and you still see precrossflow webers on the bay.
  12. The roger Albert Clark rally has a good entry this year and it's coming to Epynnt ranges in brecon.
  13. All Rovers regardless of model are just plain wrong. Can't think of a good Rover I told the wife she can have me sectioned if I ever considered buying one.
  14. I bought a complete system and manifold and it was great fit. Albeit it was for a capri the quality was good. I collected in person hoping to have a look around but most of the stuff is on line sales and so not much to see which was a shame. I bought an alloy front spoiler for my mk2 from there and again the service was great. Rang up a couple of days in advance and they reserved one for me.
  15. So, fitted new throttle cable and has a lovely smooth operation. So went out for a blast on some wet n greasy roads it's amazing how easy the back end steps out Shame the electric fuel pump failed 1 mile from home in the pissing rain.mrs not too happy about towing me home. Need to buy a better quality bike carb pump.for now we are on the road. Bugger
  16. So, the bike carbs are up and running, I made some air filters as a temporary measure using tomato cans cut in half , section of mesh over the opeining and then some ramair filter material over the top. Does the job at £9. Fitted an electric choke using a £5 solenoid onto a switch, nice. Need to improve the throttle cable attachment as i have to much play in the set up , will sort it this weekend. Overall the sound is better , idle is better and pick up is smoother. Too early to say if the performance / mpg has altered as i need to get the timing sorted once i have the throttle cable sorted. Overall though its an easy conversion.

  19. 20170827_145608.mp420170827_145608.mp420170827_145608.mp4Treated the wife to afternoon out. Albeit in the Brecon beacons military ranges at Epynnt. The amount of cars entering events now is getting less each year.top car was the wrc fiesta followed by a handful of mk2 escorts. Someone had a Ferrari rally car looked out of place.p
  20. I see spell checker changed mikuni to bikini lol
  21. Fitted mikuni bike carbs to the pinto escort today. Quite an easy conversion and runs very well. Just need to sort some air filters and relocate the oil catch tank
  22. Looking for a live ignition feed for an electric fuel pump. Any idea what colour cable I should tap into _ with in line fuse_ on the ignition. Switch or fuse box.
  23. 1600 xflow rear bowl sump
  24. At the recent Monmouth ford car show they were £25 per rim and in good order.i could never see the excitement or rarity in these. I would get a 5inch std set and band them to 6.5 or 7 inch.
