Is there a difference from one end of the spring centers to the other. The reason I ask is I am looking to get my tramp bar brackets welded on to the axle within the next day or 2. I did a dry run fitting the axle into the spring brackets. When I lifted the axle up and took the weight of the car, the tramp bar brackets were at different angle. Now as you will know there is very little movement (if any) once the axle is centered onto the center pin on the leaf spring. So this is why I ask, is it possible that one of the springs have been put on the wrong way round, therefore the axle when clamped up sits slightly further forwards or back. Cheers. Fozzy

I watched it and enjoyed it and also wondered the same. It's not on ebay now, but looks just like the one that was. I wouldn't have paid 30k for it either, that's nearly restored mexico money and more desirable IMO. Fozzy

Found the answer guys. Sounds like the breather screws in and just needs relocating elsewhere out the way without dropping any swarfe into the shaft. Fozzy

So I've made the brackets for the tramp bar mounts onto my capri axle today. My initial measurements to where the brackets are going to go seem to fall right here where I have circled. Has anyone else come across this problem and how did you get round it. Does it need cutting off and placing elsewhere or cut off and welded up. The axle is at a better stage than this with the anti roll bar brackets and leaf spring brackets now cut off. Cheers. Fozzy

Thanks for all the input guys, as usual you've been straight on it. I suppose there's no right or wrong way really as either direction will work equally well. Cheers. Fozzy

Thanks Vista bud, some things to think about now. Fozzy

Ta mate. This is what I was thinking which would take up quite a bit of slack I think. Cheers. Fozzy

Cheers Colin mate. This is the way it's on at the moment as you might have seen last week but I have seen them fed from the back with the cable crossed over on the axle. Cheers. Fozzy

Hi buddy, this is the one I've bought. http://www.burtonpower.com/handbrake-cable-ford-sierra-rear-disc-including-cosworth-bc2256.html Cheers. Fozzy

So it's all coming together now. The cozzy calipers and discs are fitted onto my capri axle, (although not perminantly yet). I have the handbrake cable and the pipework sorted thanks to Colr6. So, which way do I put my calipers onto the brackets, with the handbrake cable feed from the back or the front of the axle?. Cheers. Fozzy

Bought my RS a pair of halogen headlights which should be here tomorrow. Although every week seems to be Christmas day for mine with the parts I'm buying lately. Lol fozzy

Merry Christmas mate and ATB to you and yours. Fozzy

I think he likes escorts more than you think bud, that's the 4 wheeled type, NOT the 2 legged type. Fozzy

I would just like to say a big thankyou to colr6 for helping me out today. He came over to buy some tyres and while he was at it brought his brake line making kit to make some up for me. Thats my pipework made for my capri axle now. I took him to see my RS2000 and took him out for a spin with my new tyres on. He's a complete gentleman who was in his element helping me out. Cheers buddy, what a pleasure to meet you. Fozzy

Does anyone know a tyre dealer in South yorkshire that sells 205 60 13 tyres with rim protector on. I know I can get them delivered online but I like to see what I'm getting first, then at least I don't have to post them back. Cheers. Fozzy

I will soon have 4 DMACK 225 45 13 tyres for sale. These have had very little use and still have loads of tread on. This is one wheel i have off at the moment but theyre all the same. Changing to a different size so will be for sale as soon as i source the ones i want. These are around £100-118 each so will be looking at £45 each once they're off the rims. Message me if interested. fozzy

THIS IS WHAT AN ESCORT SHOULD LOOK LIKE

Yes it's nice mate, there's no doubt about that, but it needs cibies on. Fozzy -
The car looks stunning as is and personally think it's value is in its originality. Put 4 cibies on but leave the roll cage out. That's my 2 peneth. Fozzy

Looks like I am now sored with an axle. I was kindly given a pair of cosworth rear calipers by a member on here. Here are pictures of how they were when I got them to how they look now. They were dipped and stripped then a light coat of spray put on for the moment to stop rust. They've had a new set of seals and pistons fitted. Still got to put new flexible hoses on but this will be when I put them on the axle to find the length. Just shows what can be done with things that might otherwise have gone to the scrap man. Cheers. Fozzy

Hi bud, many thanks for the kind offer. Axle casings and shafts seem to be as expensive as the whole axle. I think I'm just gonna get one of my pals to make the guy on ebay in Donny an offer on one of his axles and see how it goes. Cheers. Fozzy

Well I hope you find what you need bud. As for me, I have all winter to do jobs. Having said that, the way the weeks are flying by, it'll soon be over and my car will be still on stands. fozzy

Hi col, yes I have considered offset wheels too. Mine are 8" which are centered, so 4" either way. I looked at some wheels today and they were coming out at about 130 quid each. That currently would be £50-100 less than an axle off ebay would cost. TBH I'm finding it quite frustrating as I have projects to do but don't seem to be able to make headway through various reasons. An axle would be the simplest method but as I'm not on ebay I can't make the enquiries I need. I spoke to a guy down Worcestershire who sells capri parts. He wants £450 for an axle. I'm currently running a 3.75 ratio but now thinking I might be better with a 3.44 after speaking with him. This is what I feel like doing most of the time. Cheers. Fozzy

Yes I am looking at hub centric ones and can get them easy enough. Was just seeing if anyone had any to sell maybe half the price then if it doesn't work I'll have to get a 52" axle. Cheers. Fozzy

So I have decided to see how my wheels would look spaced out, and I don't mean on drugs either. Has anyone got any spacers for sale. I'm wanting 25mm thick ones to fit my mk2 rs 2000. Let me know Cheers. Fozzy
