I haven't been on for a bit due to moving house. We moved to lincolnshire from Sheffield a week ago now and we're loving it. Today we went and brought the RS over. It was kept at the outlaws garage since I've had it which was 8 miles away from our old home. A few weeks prior to moving I noticed that the starter was making a right racket for a second or 2 before it started. Anyway, today after a 2 hour drive to collect it, it wouldn't start due to the starter just spinning and not engaging onto the flywheel. I had decided I didn't want to leave it there any longer due to my in law going away on holiday for a week and the fact that whilst I was trying to get It going I noticed a dodgy looking lad sat across the road. He may have been totally innocent and nothing may have come of it, but I wasn't willing to find out. So, I towed it out the garage with the wife's car and bumped it down the street. This gave me another slight problem in the respect I was gonna need enough fuel for the 100 mile journey. As it happened once it was started I got to the nearest filling station and got onto a pump where the garage doris couldn't see it was still running whilst I filled it up. All I needed to do then was to drive it all the way without stalling it. This I managed to do and it's now in my garage, which is still full of stuff to unpack. It looking like the starter maybe knackered but will get it off and check it. Fozzy

Not mine but for sale on Shpock. Mk2 mexico for 20k. Says mint so anyone looking for a car like this might want to investigate. If I was looking I would be on it like a car bonnet at that price. Fozzy
-
Me personally I would VHI it as I know 'like you' I can maintain the car to an MOT passable standard. I don't have an issue MOTing mine, although I will look more deeply into whether mine will be eligible not to have to. If not then, that's fine by me. Fozzy

Seen this on Schpock. Advertised as a mk1 radiator and sounds like new without box. Nothing to do with me but at £20 seems like a bargain if you need one. Fozzy

New ride

I'm the same mate, although I'm not too sure about using it everyday, even if it was sunny all the time. I think the anticipation of going out every now and then keeps the excitement, and I personally wouldn't want to lose that using it all the time. Fozzy -

And I bet your mouth is still aching with that big beaming smile. Fozzy -
Last time I ordered specific discs to collect from Euro car parts, they sold them to someone else before I got there even though i rang beforehand to ask if theyd got them in. I wouldn't use them again after that fiasco. I had to travel 8 miles to them too so that wasted my time. fozzy

When I bought mine last year I took the log book to the post office to tax it, knowing it was excempt, i ask the lady to clarify it. She checked, agreed and told me to change it to historic on the log book. She taxed it there and then asking if I wanted 6 or 12 months. Well, let me just think about it for 1 second. Go on, i'll have 12 months. The previous owner had been paying tax on it. Just remember this, there is no way the DVLA will ever voluntarily tell you that you don't need to pay tax because it's become historic. You have to be 10 steps ahead. I'm glad I was. Fozzy

As the title says, it never ceases to amaze me how people try to bodge things. As you know I'm doing bits and bobs to my mk2 RS2000. Yesterday I was down at the outlaws as I am going to put a new throttle linkage on it. The one on it is shite and the throttle sticks. I've found what I want now and I am also putting a new cable on too. The one I've found is universal from burton which will clamp either side of the bulkhead and be strong and sturdy, and the end will just clip onto the pedal via a ball joint. I was just looking at this yesterday and just clarifying what it was I needed on the pedal and it looks like from what I can see like the existing cable is somehow looped and made up and then tye wrapped to the pedal to stop it coming off. I can't believe how some people find it easier to bodge things instead of buying the proper bit. It must have been harder to do it wrong than right. Rant over. Fozzy

Looks great mate. I need new replacement bulbs for my dash at some point. I want originals though. Those of yours look spot on. Cheers. Fozzy

Cheers mate. I've found what I think should do it. https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Weber-DCOE-Single-Cable-Throttle-Linkage-Kit-LP1000/1824871382?iid=112862631645&chn=ps&adgroupid=54713418609&rlsatarget=pla-411723806070&abcId=1133926&adtype=pla&merchantid=115075478&poi=&googleloc=9041122&device=m&campaignid=1057752920&crdt=0&ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F710-134428-41853-0%2F2%3Fmpre%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.ebay.co.uk%252Fp%252FWeber-DCOE-Single-Cable-Throttle-Linkage-Kit-LP1000%252F1824871382%253Fiid%253D112862631645%2526chn%253Dps%26itemid%3D112862631645%26targetid%3D411723806070%26device%3Dm%26adtype%3Dpla%26googleloc%3D9041122%26poi%3D%26campaignid%3D1057752920%26adgroupid%3D54713418609%26rlsatarget%3Dpla-411723806070%26abcId%3D1133926%26merchantid%3D115075478%26gclid%3DCj0KCQjwtZzWBRD2ARIsAIPenY1A-SWRRqow20hHOdal8RSthzXFBgAkRVAZSQuBusvNmDTK_zxvHLQaAlsjEALw_wcB%26srcrot%3D710-134428-41853-0%26rvr_id%3D1491242356324 Fozzy

Cheers Col. I'm not entirely sure what you mean mate, but It looks like I've answered my own question TBH bud. Fozzy

I've just had a closer look at this one and it looks like a single throttle linkage with twin cables. I've just looked and you can buy single or twin carb linkages that fit either. Does anyone use a single/twin weber throttle linkage and what are they like. Cheers. Fozzy
-
I know I've put a thread up like this before but I'm going to ask again. As I have twin 45 DCOE's on my pinto I am looking to buy the twin throttle linkage to fit it with the cables coming out towards the front of the car as against coming out towards the bulkhead. I have found a picture of what I am looking for on a mexico so it can be done. Whether or not the chap has somehow adapted I don't know. So, does anyone know where I can buy one from or have you ever adapted one. cheers. Fozzy

Those holes could be there for setting the air flow. I have since drilled m5 holes into each of my inlet manifold for airflow metres to be screwed into. Once done theyre filled in with grub screws. if you wanted to put a pipe like mine for the servo, that would be simple enough to do. Just make sure that any drilling and tapping you do is done with the manifold off or blocked to stop any ingress of swarf into the head. These in the box are flow meters which you use to set and balance the carbs up with. fozzy

Mine is located on the back carb and the front is blanked off. I wouldn't imagine it would make much difference which one it was on TBH.
-
I see the difference. Ain't this what you're looking for, apart from the price. Fozzy https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-ESCORT-MK1-TANDEM-SYSTEM-MASTER-CYLINDER-NEW-NON-SERVO-KIT-CAR-PROJECT/253528158046?epid=24013710955&hash=item3b0774af5e:g:p1QAAOSwlv9aagud

Just out interest, what disquishes a servoed masters cylinder from a none servoed one. I was looking at mine the other day and wondered why you couldn't just take the servo and tower off, shorten the pedal rod and just bolt the master cylinder straight to the bulk head. Fozzy
-
Well I'm not sure about that mate. But this one looks like its running into the inlet manifold. What does it say in the manual.? Fozzy
-
As a general rule it goes onto the inlet manifold to help create a vacuum when you decelerate. You can see where mine comes from and along the radiator to the servo. Rubber pipe to copper then rubber to servo. Fozzy
