Modifying MKI Escorts article in national newspaper
Mash replied to In The Pit's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
Ed China is a good guy, he spent a lot of time in early summer working for a local charity who were growing produce to hand out to deserving families. He was doing deliveries all over for them. Also, my mate gives him flying lessons and says he's really knowledgeable and a proper Gent. He ran his own garage for a long time, and he left WD because the new US owners were trying to force him to cut corners and bodge things. -
Just to say the centres arrived from Jim today and I'm really pleased with them. Jim' a Gent π
-
My mate had a red RS Turbo from new and guess what? Aye, it got nicked π He even saw them driving it off and him and another mate chased them but couldn't keep up!
-
Welcome Haven't been here long myself, but I can tell you that they're a really helpful and friendly bunch π
-
Received Jim, perfect! Let me know what you want for postage, and I'll send you cash through PayPal if that suits? Probably need your email for that if you want to message or whatsapp that
-
In fact, just measured my holes and they are 57mm, so if they're for that size I'll have them π Really nice RS you have there by the wayπ
-
π Just replied to you on turbosport Jim, so don't bother whatsapping the pidtures. I'll have them if they are the correct dia., so what dia are they?

Actually, in addition to the CDV category, you can drive at car speed limits if your van is a "Dual purpose vehicle", from memory that's less than 2048kg Gross and with side and rear windows and a row of seats behind the drivers seat. So crewcabs depending on their weight (and also the ratio of the passenger compartment to load compartment). Also, as I understand it from the DVLA site, the only restriction for TAX exemption is the age of the vehicle. Type of engine running gear fitted, relates to MOT exemption? I have an ex RAC transit, and it will easily top the legal limit (on a private road officer), so i have to watch how apply the right foot π

Some of my past Escorts :-(
Mash replied to Mash's topic in READERS RIDES (PAST & PRESENT) PICTURES, BROCHURES & ARCHIVES
Had this as my only transport for a while in there somewhere as well and also had a P reg 1300 Mk2 which I got off my Dad and then whacked a 1600 crossflow into, but can't find a photo of that. -

then there were a number of others starting with the red one.... Interesting that the red one is listed as having a 1998 engine, but when I sold it it had the 1600 version in it. I suppose, I'd done all the hard work, so he just bought the bigger engine and shoved it in. Also the RS2000is listed as red, so I suppose it was re-sprayed after I flogged it.... -
One of my old Mk1 Mexicos
Mash replied to Mash's topic in READERS RIDES (PAST & PRESENT) PICTURES, BROCHURES & ARCHIVES
Aye, I bought the shell in about 1980, flogged it in about '83 so that ties in with the records.. Bought a mk2 RS2000 then (pictures to follow later). That had had a bit of a chequered life too...... Previous to them, had a mk1 Mex which was immaculate, flogged for Β£650 π, then a Mk2 Escort 1100 popular. Turned the pop into a flat front pinto engined beast, which I flogged for peanuts in the end too....... -
Pics of My Mk2
Mash replied to motorsport59's topic in READERS RIDES (PAST & PRESENT) PICTURES, BROCHURES & ARCHIVES
Managed to download them and then open them with Windows photo viewer, looks really good Made me wonder again about my bumpers. Was going to go black back and front with quarters, but as it's an estate, which have Mk1 chrome handles, I thought, modify the existing ones (and get re-chromed). π Just not sure...... Anyway, saved the downloaded files as .jpg files using WPV, then resized to about 1/4 original size to get them on here and, Robert's your mother's brother -
Mk1 Escort - St170 Conversion - To be or not to be..?
Mash replied to Scortedvan's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
how's it going with the Escort then Matey? I'm getting there with mine, trying to find the engine number at present, any ideas where it is? found it! rear left, on the flange the gearbox bolts to, outside edge, just above the crank sensor, stamped with a dot punch b the looks of it and really hard to read π Still like toknow how you're getting on though..... -
Might want to edit your address out of the pictures too Mate π
-
Not sure why it's hitting, but my bearing is pushed right in, by a couple of mm from memory...

Nice π. Didn't Jenn's diner used to be on the old A30? Remember going to a diner there every time I went down that way with the lads. Used to go at least 3 times every year, started when we first left school, and that was way before they built the bypass π. they did good baps then too!

Mash replied to Scortedvan's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
I've been moving the breather pipe on my cam cover, stealing the idea from you βΊοΈ. but I was thinking about putting the new connector on the opposite side away from the splash plate, any thoughts? -

Cracking job mate, I love it ! I'm in the process of doing the same job with my Mk2 Escort Estate, except I'm also fitting an Rx8 gearbox, which has challenges of it's own π -
Have you still got this Mate?
-
Nice looking motor Mate Like the registration

Aye, that's the same as mine, except mine had the RS alloys on it
