  1. Yup, that's the stuff I used to trim out the back of my Transit. Sticks like the proverbial.
  2. I used to do the gearbox rebuilds on the dining room table 😂 Needless to say, we lost our deposit when we moved out 😂
  3. dodgy connection in the bulb holder/connector?
  4. Allo John gotta new motor Seriously mucker, welcome and very tidy looking Tina
  5. Watched it on Iplayer the other day, a really fitting tribute to her, but very sad obviously. Were some good funny bits in it though as she had a wicked sense of humour. One great bit was when she made Evans puke up . Hadn't seen that before.
  6. Looks like a fairly good base to start with Mate. Look forward to watching how you get on
  7. I was thinking more of the fuel element JB rather than the electrics which are not too bad provided it's not an electric/hybrid 😲 Haven't had to attend a serious RTC involving a hybrid/electric yet, but it's worrying from our point of view, especially if we're cutting people out 😕 Agreed CO2 is best provided you don't inhale, but they do tend to be a bit bigger and heavier for car use.
  8. Getting out is always the best option, but, having said that, I once had a fire under the bonnet in one of my old mk1s caused by a broken(and brand new) jubilee clip on a fuel line. Pulled in to the pub car park, which was really handy, and stuck a really small and half used bcf extinguisher up from under the front valance and used it all up AND put it out! wiring was a bit singed but still OK. Put a spare clip on it and carried n to work 😌 So, I guess if you're out, having a go is better than ending up with a burnt out wreck, especially if you've sweat tears and blood into building it..... BCF wasn't illegal in those days
  9. Got some of these for my cars. they do 1 L ones as well... AFFF extinguisher
  10. Not sure about the Lotus Cortina either. Why would you go to the incredible trouble of doing a restore like that(difficult to say how good the body is from the pictures mind) and then paint in Alan Mann colours instead of the original white and green? RS2000 doesn't appear to have genuine wheels either. Have they just not bothered to register the engine change, or even worse, stamped a new number on it?😲
  11. Aye, screws tend to get corroded in over time so as they can't go anywhere, I always used to leave mine off.
  12. Gone far too early Awesome driver and a gorgeous doris too! So sad.
  13. Aye, sad loss Remember watching some rally cross he was commentating on when I was a youngster and him putting the kiss of death on a bloke in a mini, "he's got this race in the bag now, they'll never catch him". Bloke promptly clipped a blood great mound and turned it over 😁 good old Murray, always really passionate about the sport!
  14. Cheers guys Had some back in the day, but just didn't remember them being that tight. That said I had a pair of super oscars nicked from outside the house in about 1979 😭, but maybe they were after the covers and the lights just came off with them
  15. Anyone bought any of the new Cibie Oscar covers from rally design? I just got some and boy are they a tight fit.
  16. I was going through some old photos the other day and came up with a few of this Mk1 Escort. I'm the bearded one in the left hand seat. Won a few trophies in it between us, thrashing round the lanes of Cumbria/Lancashire/Yorkshire. He was an awesome driver, but he had a freaky thing about going through water, every time we approached a ford he'd undo his seatbelt 😁 It started life as a 1300, but we slammed a 1600 GT in it and whacked some Mexico front wings on it. There were 5 of us living in a house in Lancaster at the time and 4 of us had Mk1 Mexico's. he sold an immaculate Olympic blue 72 m plate to buy this car......
  17. Agreed generally. Did like them on the 1600E though, always loved those cars.
  18. Me too Mate. Flogged mine for 650 quid back in about 1979 😭
  19. Yes Mate there was a fair bit of discussion about it when they first announced it a few weeks back. A lovely job, but there was a lot of chat about whether it was worth it or not......
  20. Anyway, I reckon you'd be better using a Ford power plant/trans, but if you did decide to go down the Mx5 route, this guys is worth a look(might be worth a look anyway).... UrchFab Mongrel
  21. Think you're right there dt 👍😊
