My insurance company know the car is fitted for nitrous, but we've 'agreed' that the bottle is removed when it's being used on the road. Bit of a bummer really as I could do with the extra power.

Insurance companies go mental! You can fit a nitrous kit and not use it on the road, but (with my insurance company anyway) you must remove the bottle or insurance is invalid. This means REMOVE THE BOTTLE and not just discommect it. Nothing else will do!

It really depends on what size of graphics you want to display, and where you want to display them. We normally work out finances related to parts we need i.e if you supply/pay for the spark plugs we use in a season you become our 'spark plug' sponsor. You get your graphics on the car (size & area by mutual agreement) and get a mention at every meet we're at as the plug sponsor. Make sense? If you're really interested, send me a PM & we can talk!

I took it down to Sainsbury's a while ago, and the manager insisted I gave him a ride as he "was used to fast cars"....... When I hit it (Erm...that's 'accelerated gently on the public road' officer....) and we left two 18" tyre tracks for about 100 yards, his calm demeanour disappeared, and all I heard was "F*cking hell! Surprised the bloke in the Renault 19 beside us as well! As I dropped him off he was whiter than Persil can get my undies, and shaking visibly. It's nice to have a car that can shut people up!

Sounds like clutch is fine, brakes are fine, but tyres are sh*te!

Fibreglass doors ARE illegal on the road - it's called fly-tipping. If you bolt them to a car however, they are not illegal! If the moulds are good they are superb. The doors on my MK2 are 'glass (as is the bonnet, wings, nosecone, boot). The car is black and reasonably straight, (those who saw it at Shakespeare will testify to that) . You'd never know the panels were 'glass. Buy good quality panels and spend lots of time prepping them. But DON'T put them on a road!

Nor is my Mk2 RS2000. Made in Germany. Still Old Skool.

Just started to get some bits for our latest project - 1966 Mustang Coupe. Plan is to cut it up and make a 'Pro-Touring' car (ie one that goes round corners). New chassis, new suspension, lots of lightweight panels. Big-inch alloys (poss 20". Just got a set in that look awesome!) 351 (5.7 litre) Ford V8, possibly with a couple of hairdryers to give it a bit more oomph. Manual box (obviously). Caged & stripped out, but tastefully done (not all of that carbon-fibre doings we've got in the Escy). Loud! What do you think - Old Skool or not?

Most of the ebay scam e-mails are easy enough to spot as they come through from an 'ebay.com' address rather than an 'ebay.co.uk'. Basically though, if you don't get the message through 'my ebay - messages' and it ONLY appears in your e-mails, then it's a scam. DON'T click on the links and enter your details 'cos if you do..........well, they've just got your password haven't they? 60ftman is the ebay God

We use a mountain bike speedo which takes a pulse from one of the front wheels. It's pre-programmed with the diameter of the wheel when you fit it, and is apparently accurate to within a couple of % up to 150mph (don't know what happens above 150). It has a trip on it (which doesn't get wiped when the battery goes flat) and therefore complies with every aspect of the law. Can be swapped to KMH at a moments notice. Cost about 30 notes from Halfords bike department. We're not proud!

Just toilet. No way that car has run that fast with the running gear it's got in it. Fastest terminal quarter I've had in the Escy is just over 140, and I must have twice the horsepower than this Anglia has. Is he sure it's not 208 KMH. That would equate to 130mph. More like the truth I think!

I have to say that I've never really had a problem with plod on the road (aside the odd speeding tickets from the 'cash machine' cameras) even driving the Escort with the blower hanging out of the bonnet, but I do agree with everything you said concerning where the policing really should be done, and the fact that if you're breaking the law it shouldn't matter which colour you are. We have w*nkers thashing around our estate every night, all you hear is the screeching of brakes and the inevitable 'bump', but do we ever see a copper? No. We'll probably only see one when a kid gets killed, and then it will be everyone elses fault. I've had my workshop broken into a few times, and my complete Snap-On toolkit removed twice. Cost me over £20k in total. Took the police three days to arrive last time, by which time it was (in their words) "....too late, They'll be miles away by now.....". I sometimes wonder what I've worked all my life and paid my taxes for. Don't worry Dave. You're not the only one who feels this way by far.

Nice small-block Ford V8. Same weight (ish) as the Essex. Smaller than the Rover V8 (narrower V). and cheaper than chips to get tuning parts. Would look great in the 'Tina engine bay too! Lob a nice T5 behind it and I reckon you've got a bit of a tool
