  1. the engine will be sat lower and possibly further back. As I will be doing this I thought I may aswell explore other options for crossmembers that's all
  2. Are these available anywhere for a mk2 escort or are they the sort of thing people have made themselves / had made up ? Just thinkinh about alternatives to a WCXM if I end up chassis mounting my xflow
  3. Cheers Vista. I'll be using the car as a B road fun car so was thinking that 100mph top speed would be about right as I wanted plenty of squirt out of the twisty stuff. Is there a formula / chart / graph that would tell me the optimum diff ratio for that speed with either a 5 speed type 9 or 4 speed box along with the obligatory 175/50's combo ? Cheers Danish. Sounds like a really good quick shift isn't going to break the bank then. Do you know of any types you could recommend or have heard good reviews ? Cheers khanlad. No 10" slicks for me I'm afraid Which atb diff are you running ? 4.1's seem to be easier to get ahold of. Is there much top speed difference from a 4.4 to a 4.1 ? Cheers BigBubba, that sounds like a good all round set up for what I'm after I think
  4. Hi, I'm interested to know people's opinions about the drivetrain set up that would be best for my mk2 escort. It'll be a fast road type spec car with an English axle probably with a 4.4 diff and a 5 speed (type 9 ?) gearbox and probably powered by a breathed on 1600 xflow. The questions I've got are: - which LSD unit is best ? which half shafts are best ? Is there a certain type of one piece prop that is best or are they all the same ? is a type 9 five speed the best way to go and if so, what quick shift kit is best to go with it ? Cheers in advance
  5. Hi, I'm after an English 4:4 diff unit for my mk2 escort. If anyone's got one or knows where to get one, please let me know. Cheers Darren
  6. Cheers Scott
  7. Bugger hope he's on the mend
  8. Has anyone got his contact number / details ? Cheers in advance
  9. I'm really not sure - for years now I've wanted a crossflow and definitely must have one at some point but the modern "practical / sensible" donkey is certainly very appealing ! Sorry Jamie but for me, putting a ricer lump in a ford engine bay is nearly as bad as putting a vauxhall lump in !
  10. Morning All Just gauging opinions - ive got a mk2 escort that I had every intention of keeping old school by fitting a nice 1600 crossflow in and a set of twin 40's / 45's. If not a crossflow then a pinto on 45's / 48's. Thing is though ive been looking at black top zetec conversions, again using carbs and its got me thinking: - do I want a crossflow, pinto or zetec / duratec Money wise I reckon i'll probably end up similar ish with all of the options so what do you all think ?
  11. Hi, I'm looking for someone, ideally in Lancashire, that can tub and 5 (or possibly 6) link the back of my mk2 escort. Who can you all recommend ??? Cheers in advance Darren
  12. Lovely car ! Get some more pics and info up
  13. 13's every time for me !
  14. Not wanting to be negative but what are the chances that the queue might be better organised ? This year I arrived at 9am but it was gone noon by the time I actually got through the gate !
  15. Now that looks nice !!! What's "a bit pricey" ???
  16. Has anyone got any recommendations ? And pics ? Is a 105 speed one any good ?
  17. Cheers anyway btw
  18. Pics ???
  19. Change of plan - Ralloy baffled alloy tank, stand, filler pipe linked to original filler cap and a VDO sender unit. And so the spending begins..............
  20. .....new fuel tank sender units for a mk2 escort ? I've got my tank out for a clean and freshen up and the fuel sender is looking a bit worse for wear
  21. Try Graham at GS Escorts in Widnes
