  1. Hang on then cos you've got me confused now. Easy I know but.... The hose I was thinking about was a stainless steel braided rubber pipe for carb pressure rather than injection. I suppose this isnt actually a braided hose, just a strengthened rubber hose ??? Surely this type of stuff is fine isn't it ?
  2. Pretty easy I'd of thought. Pedal box, servo, wiring loom alterations, dash, rack.
  3. Ok cheers Tom. There wouldn't actually be too much aeroquip really - probably about 1.0m or so ? What actually is the difference of -6 to -8 ? Is -8 a pipe with an 8mm I.D or is that far too simple ?
  4. Vista - lovely van and looks like some nice work AM Restorations have done for you. V8cortina - I spoke to Martin at EA earlier this year as I was very tempted after looking at his website and speaking to him. The only snag was the £25k price tag....! I know its a case of getting what you pay for and im 100% behind that philosophy but I must admit that sort of figure (especially as the real figure is more like £30k+ when you factor in the cost of the car itself) did shock me a little bit
  5. I'm ooop north in Lancashire but would go anywhere in the UK as long as the work is good. Hadn't really thought about non ford restorers tbh but you've got a point. Cheers
  6. Who's the best person / company to do a full restoration on a mk2 escort ? I don't know of their work but http://www.restore-a-ford.co.uk/index.html and http://www.theescortagency.net/ are the only ones I know of. Has anyone got any opinions about these two and any other places ??? Cheers
  7. Is there anybody out there ?
  8. IMO proper paints like ICI, DuPont etc go on much easier, don't dull over time and hold their colour
  9. Ooo also, if you got any pics of your installs that would be great. Cheers
  10. Ok, I've now got myself a Facet silver top electric fuel pump and an 85mm filter king regulator. Is the below how you would fit it ? -8 braided hose from tank to pump -8 braided hose from pump to filter -6 braided hose from filter to existing metal fuel pipe (or should this be -8 too ?) -6 (or -8 ?) from the other end of the existing metal fuel pipe to the carb Cheers in advance
  11. Bump
  12. Just wondered, can you still buy a slide injection kit ran on say DTA management ? A mate of mine had that set up on a mk2 1600 crossflow years ago and I've always loved the sound & performance it gave
  13. Nope, that's what I need really
  14. Ok, cheers Matt
  15. I've taken the original single choke carb off my 1300 crossflow on my escort and have a twin choke weber and manifold to fit in its place but I've got a problem with it. Manifold and carb fitted fine but ip think I'm missing a bracket or something so that the throttle cable can be fitted and work . The spring type bracket bit that I think the very end of the throttle cable goes into is there but there isn't anything that the outer throttle cable can pull against if that makes sense ? Has anyone got some decent pictures I could look at ? I've tried Google and my Haynes manual but can't find anything decent to show me how the cable should be routed & work. Cheers in advance
  16. I could cut it down so it's just a straight pipe meaning I could screw it in after the tank is fitted. The only slight downside would be that the pipe wouldn't have a flared end on it ?
  17. Not the same really but I've got an escort that was imported from Polland. Long story short it was straight forward until it got to the UK. I bought it from a UK seller who didn't let HMRC know that the car is now in the UK and also hadn't registered it with DVLA. I tried to register it with DVLA (which cost £55 fee plus 6 months RFL) but it nearly went tits up when I found out about the HMRC NOVA scheme that the car hasn't been registered with. HMRC then tried to charge me £5 per day late notification fee which totalled a rather sizeable £900 !!! Anyway, I proved that I wasn't liable for the penalty and they quashed the fine. So in a nutshell I think the UK side of things is pretty straightforward but I'd stress that you need to do your homework to make sure that you're not going to get shafted later down the line
  18. Rally And Competition Equipment in Stoke do a hell of a lot of Atlas axles and seemed to be picking up a lot of work from old Fostec customers
  19. That's the problem though - because of the length of the 90 deg outlet pipe which has the flared end it fouls the lip at the bottom of the tank well to the qtr panel
  20. Looks good to me. How do i go about getting one ???
  21. Morning ! I'm upgrading the fuel system on my mk2 Escort to fit a Facet fuel pump etc so have got the tank out to give things a clean up and get the tank painted etc. I got the tank out ok after some jiggery pokery with the outlet fitting but judging by the way it came out, i cant see it going back in without scratching it. Is there a different outlet fitting i could get or is there a knack im missing ??? Cheers in advance
  22. Cheers everyone !
  23. Cheers chaps. Sorry I should've said - spec wise the 1300 will soon be changed for a 1600 with twin 40's. Do you reckon the same spec would be suitable ?
  24. Is there anybody out there ?
  25. Hi, The mechanical fuel pump on my 1300 crossflow has packed up so rather than replace it I'm thinking that I might as well update the system by fitting an electric fuel pump. Please can you give me your opinions on what I should / shouldn't fit etc ? Cheers Darren
