  1. It will get dearer yet, the futures which are traded a month in advance for 'Light Sweet Crude' that petrol is refined from, are heading for the $100 barrel. Whats at the pumps now was traded at around $80 a month ago, were now over $95 The only winner in all this is the taxman of course, they are quietly raking in billions in extra revenue as there slice of the cake increases with prices.
  2. If you mean the pad retaining pins this place lists them........ www.brakeparts.co.uk Another option would be the BMW Dealers (where I got mine) as the same calipers were fitted to some early 7-series.
  3. I voted Cosworth 24V, as much as I like the Essex spending big money on one doesn't make much sense cost wise when you can plug the 24V in for a cheap 200bhp. They can also be made to look old skool, carb's dizzy etc. see mine in pic below. The Essex in my race car is all steel and not what you would call cheap, for the billet steel Farndon GAA crank you would be looking at the best part of £3k!
  4. Some pics.... Can't think why yours is called the Fat Capri
  5. Brilliant day with so many great cars, thanks to Kev for organising it, looking forward to next year already A Mk2 did turn up towards the end....
  6. I'm only 2 miles away so will be there from the off
  7. I agree .......
  8. LSD, on the grounds that you can't see the x-pack while driving but you can enjoy the LSD
  9. Was an excellent day and my first time on the OSF stand
  10. Yep, and I'm taking it out on the track again to wring it's neck
  11. Here are the dates these are due to arrive at the UK importers, so should be available in a week or two from the dates shown, the RRP for them is £49.99 but can usually be got cheaper...... 688136 FORD ESCORT MK1 TC GARDNER/GLEMSER ALAN MANN RACING NURBURGRING 1968 1:18 6/07/07 748101 FORD ESCORT MK1 WINNER RAC RALLY 1974 MAKINEN 'COLIBRI LIGHTERS' 1:18 15/06/07 738113 FORD ESCORT MK1 WINNERS RAC RALLY 1973 MAKINEN 'MILK MARKETING BOARD' 1:18 22/06/07
  12. Nothing wrong with an ATB in a race car either, I won many races and took plenty of lap records with one, so I don't think it was holding me back any
  13. That is a trick often used in one make championships on the rears, some cars have too much bias to the rears especially when all the interior is removed. The brakes can't be modified in any way and bias valves are not allowed only pads are free, so holes are drilled in the pads and filled with copperslip
  14. I had an even bigger accident when I stood there doing that video
  15. A carbon fibre shell, a 500kg Capri would be a lot of fun
  16. AS much as I like my V6's if you want to tinker then the Pinto is the better bet. The 2.8 with siamesed ports only really responds well to forced induction. The Essex is expensive especially once you start to look at increasing the revs and then makes little sence when the Cossie 24V can be plugged straight in for 200+ bhp. But as a fan of the Essex I have to say that out of the 3 engines (N/A) the Essex wins on ultimate power
  17. I do like my Capri's, even more so with numbers on the door Also got quite a few resin models to make, but have only done this one so far, which has taken about 10 years on and off
  18. It's in Kirkby Mallory M1 J21 if I remember correctly, Leicestershire Are they using the circuit as it's a great track, doesn't take prisoners though!
  19. Must have been nearly 20 years ago, I was in my 1.6 JPS and alongside me at the lights was a 2.8, with the driver revving it. As he was 4-up I thought I might be in with a chance, and as the lights changed I got the jump on him and he had to tuck in behind me. The moment of joy was short lived as I closed on a pick-up truck and went to overtake, but as I did he pulled out to go round a cyclist in front. My front wing caught on his rear corner and peeled it right off, it only being attached by the welds on the A-post. The gits in the 2.8 turned round up the road and did a slow drive by, killing themselves laughing
  20. Some of mine...

  22. I feel the same with mine a lot of the time, there is no enjoyment to be had in London crawling between traffic lights and giving it a little tickle in between speed cameras. So tend to just use it for a few shows and trackdays. Probably get more fun out of playing with it and making bits up, which I guess is one reason why I went racing as it gives you a good excuse to keep fiddling in search of those fractions of second. You could always park it up and just look at it as it looks so right. But not before you've taken it to a few shows as I'm looking forward to seeing it
  23. Or nearer £3k if it's a billet steel GAA one As Glyn says "race tuned" is a meaningless term, but for £250 if it's a freshly built standard one it's got to be worth it.
  24. I'm booked up, 1 of possibly 3 Capri's with 24V's in.
