  1. i would have suggested carb or possibly timing but as you said had been fine until earlier then it would have probably been the condensor/points breaking down.. fingers crossed!
  2. I dunno why but 'Frank', for me seems to work?
  3. sounds like ignition timing to me- have you check the cam timing is spot on?
  4. thats impressive! whats the spec of the motor?? i do like a jps
  5. you show offs!! mine gets dirtier and rustier every time I open the bonnet, admititly thats not very often looking good fellas.
  6. just change the oil, she'l be ok! i just used a 2 leg puller to get mine off, done it twice now, no problems
  7. what film is out tomorrow?- put the two together, bound to happen. Stupid media hype!
  8. i have just a middle box but it is a custom made one (to fit 2.5" tube) it has 3 perforated tubes inside through which the gagses flow. just a 2.5" pipe out the back with a 3" tailpipe. sounds like a V8 on tickover and isnt too loud under full chat, well not as loud as the supercharger!
  9. coooooool!!!! get it belled up wont you!
  10. 2nd item looks like a mk2/3 capri bulkhead cover plate (dunno its real name) it seals the heater matrix pipes through the bulk to heater unit.
  11. 2.2 lbs to a kilo, so 4.5kg ish.
  12. http://www.brakesint.co.uk/ gotta be worth a look.
  13. Hey where did you get those hubs from? Ive just bought a pair from rally design, and there 10mm wider face to face than my original ones! which means my wheels wont go under me arches! i just spoke to RD and they reckon they can not be safely machined down either. yours look like they may have the correct face to face dimension. (on the wheel face of mine theres hardly anything to locate the wheel- yours look like the proper dimensions). nice setup under there btw. thanks.
  14. is it taking its power from the ballast wire in the cars loom? some igntion systems need 12v feed from a live. most capris have a ballast resistor in the loom which knocks the suppy down to 9 volts.
  15. so i take it you dont have a rev limiter fitted? could be the carbs needing setting up- going lean or rich at that rev range...
  16. does it have an ignition modual? it could be that up the shoot. im not 100% on your ignition setup are you running a dizzy? is so does it have points? if the coil works on another engine, and you have all your wiring correct and all the wires upto the coil are working correctly then id say you have a problem after your coil.
  17. the manifold ones loosen because of expansion and contraction in the metals. the rocker cover ones settle due to the cork gasket. idealy the alternator bracket and engine mount bolts etc would have spring washers with them, to keep them from vibrating loose. I found the same with mine after a total rebuild- i guess thats why its so important to follow the correct torques for the engine internals etc.
  18. Bosch wiper blades are expensive and always noisey! i buy blades from my local cheapo place@ 1.99 each. the last set were on the capri for 2 years!. they only stopped working because she sat for 4 months which bent the rubber lips over.
  19. try it. I dont know if the bumper mounting holes are in the same place though?
  20. wheel balance? - most obvious between 40 - 60 mph
  21. the battery maybe fine but if the alternator is faulty (regulator circuit) then itl over charge the battery, basically boil it and so all the acid comes out.
  22. self defence Technically in admitting that he is trained in 2 martial arts he is 'trained' to fight. Therefore it should be carried out with minimal force. If they can produce a serious enough injury then they can sue for ABH or GBH. I know a boxer who got set on by three people and he ended up breaking one persons arm, cheakbone and nose on the second and the third legged it. He was sued for GHB/ABH as the judge said he was a trained fighter and as such knew what he was doing. There is a fine line between self defence and assault. But good idea to lie low a bit! and maybe change your route home over the next few days see thats whats wrong with this bloody cuntry! if some moron decides to break the law, then any 'assult' they get back from the victim should be tuff sh!t i say good on you for standing up for your self! They were probably looking for trouble (these people should be culled) buts its probably a good thing they found you as it could have easily been someone older, younger or someone who would have come off a lot worse than you did. you did a good thing for the comunity there, good on you!
  23. waow! that was deffo worth watching! all the cars brand new, put a shiver down my spine remember those crappy videos you used to have to watch in school? they should have made us watch that instead! awesome
