HOW TO.... Drift Mk3 Capri 2.0 pinto with no LSD?
TwoLitrePinto replied to shayn16v's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
keep your foot planted as you come out of it -
also if its a sierra 205 block they r unleaded as standard
-
well i used to run my 1.6 pinto on unleaded and it lasted about 2000 miles before it DID burn the valve seats out. i noticed although the temp gauge was reading normal, it seemed the head was running hot, you could smell it and it pinks more on unleaded! now i run Shell Vpower (only 99 octane super unleaded) + the lead replacement additive they sell in shell for £6, treats 250ltrs you dont have to run high octane but mines high comp and ignition timing advanced, stopped it pinking

Anyone know how to stop a Mk1 Escort from being crushed?
TwoLitrePinto replied to waynemex's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
you are refering to the section 59 that the sussex police so love to dish out here, ive had 5 of these! they dont destroy the car, they warn you, and if you get another one in a year they impound the car, charge you £105 to get it back and £12 per day. IF you havent claimed it after 28 days it is destroyed. every time after the first warning they do the same, unless the years just rolled over then they give you a warning again. trust me i speak from experience! -

exactly its nonsense, i have been ragging this capri around hastings for about a year, yes i get pulled a lot, but they havent come round my house to taken it off me! anyway surely that would be a matter they would have to take to court first? -
like the sound of that! i once asked someone, whats the best thing to do with a 2.8i and he sed bin it!, the best thing to say would have been, bin it unless you want to spend a hell of a lot of money! because if you can get that sort of power from one, its not going anywhere near a bin.

HOW TO.... Drift Mk3 Capri 2.0 pinto with no LSD?

go as fast as you can say round a roundabout in 2nd gear, turn so that the front is just about still gripping and floor it in the wet i find i have to dip the clutch slightly to get the back out before the front decides to slide out. i find it no problem to drift with a open diff wet or dry, but u got to be brave about it, i find that in the dry its more controlable where as in the rain, it sometimes can just go before you get a chance to do anything! i went straight from a nackered 1600 pinto to a 2.1 modded pinto, pissin in the rain down a b road, went round a bend at about 30-40 dipped the clutch heavily and was severly shocked after i was facing the wrong way within about half a second! i tried again bien a bit more careful and aware of what was going to happen and hey it worked! do any of you lot with open diffs manage to hold it on FULL opposite lock in the wet without spinning or stopping facing the kurb? i can go very sideways and hold it but rarely have to use full lock, normally half a turn and some throttle control does the job... -
nice, what sort of numbers do you get from that?
-
cheers mate, im gona use the 2.8 for the time bieng while i get the pinto modded then i will go pinto thats whats in it now, and its got some mods but it needs head work and bigger carb/s. so is there no potential for modding a 2.8? also, does a 2.8 have a bigger master cylinder and/or servo and would it be an advantage? i already have 2.8i grooved and drilled discs, sport pads, caliper spacer kit and thats virtually eliminated brake fade and given slightly better stopping power, but i want to make the pedal a little more sensitive so i dont have to stand on it!
-
rite i have just acquired myself a 2.8i capri, runs and drives on a D plate with the 6spoke alloys, LSD, recaro interior, all panels good, floor and chassis is gone but who cares, i paid £300 for it for all the stuff to put in my laser! im not entirely sure on the best setup, i was thinking about using the 2.8i lump for now while i do a bit more to the pinto, cuz its got more out of the box. which is the best gearbox and axle (i know the 2.8i is LSD) but would it be worth putting the LSD in the 2.0 axle (its just been reconditioned)? recaro interior is 100% going in, in favour of whats left of my ripped up laser interior, all the suspension, alloys and brakes r good. also need a new door, wing and mirror on the laser which r good on this one, so im a happy chappy. so at the end of it all there will be a 2.8i bare rotten shell left and a 2.1 half built pinto with about 30k miles on it. depending on how i get on with the 2.8 there will be either a nice running 2.8i lump for sale or a fairly beefy pinto for sale. wish me luck lol
-
where would i be able to find a new one of these, does anyone on here make them? its for my uncles 2.8i xpac convertible but im considering getting one for my laser aswell...
-
lol thanks, still fine so guess thats it now, hope so. everyone i know has had it at some point! some people right over xmas so i guess i was lucky to escape it over the piss up period
-

I was once playing with a new M3 i saw him in my rear view he shot up behind like a bat out of hell he was on my ass so i booted it on a nice straight A road, i was full chat with the 2.1 capri and he overtook like i was goin backwards from about 70mph, id just got into 3rd and he was beltin it round me after about 3 seconds (after slowing to my speed first)... i still try because cars like that i just love to see them rag it!

i think that would look mean if the surrounds (whats left of them) were black! OR if the grille went all the way across acting as surrounds too. also Debumper it and put on one of those spoilers on the lower front valance and id say your talking! -
