  1. Not really one for old skool but they did have a Lotus Cortina on the track today. My old work colleagues clubbed together to buy me a supercar experience. I waited for a special occasion to enjoy my treat, hence I booked my gift to celebrate turning 40 years old. I got to drive an Aston Martin, Ferrari and Lamborghini. All were great cars but my favourite was the Ferrari, rear wheel drive, naturally aspirated V8 with 6 speed manual – the way cars should be enjoyed. My experience was at Goodwood, the staff were great and my instructor, Gerry, was brilliant. He’s got a Porsche 911GT3, Ferrari 355 manual and a Jag XKR! Here’s me looking stupid with a long jacket and orange trainers but who cares, I’m about to drive a 5.0 V10 Lambo! Lamborghini Gallardo 5.0 V10 6 speed manual Ferrari 360 Modena 3.6 V8 6 speed manual Aston Martin Vantage 4.7 V8 6 speed manual Thank you old work colleagues and Happy Birthday to me! My mk1 is still more super than the above!
  2. Great story, nice one.
  3. 5.5 alloys, Mark, nice and original. Thanks for the comment.
  4. One year on and still loving her, took her out for a drive at the weekend as I needed to take pics for insurance valuation.
  5. Congrats
  6. Welcome, hope to see you around Sussex in your Fezza, you may see me in my mk1 Escort, I'm in Horsham.
  7. Best Xmas pressie ever from my wife. I wear a bloody suit for work so these will be used a lot.
  8. Born in 75, so I don't remember much... All I know is good things were Fords, these have become loved.... 70s DJs not so loved.
  9. It's been for sale since at least February 2014. A more realistic market value is £25k, it would have sold at that very quickly. You never get money back from modified cars.
  10. Thanks Mike... liking cars is one big problem. I've had my CSL for 2 1/2 years now and covered 38,000 miles. I love it but I'm starting to get an itch for something different... Just don't know what... Why can't we just be happy with what we have?
  11. E46, get into m3cutters and check out the M3 buyers guide. Get one! You'll love it! I love mine...
  12. This one's in Ireland and looks very original. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-ESCORT-MK1-1300XL-/201169278433?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item2ed69f95e1 For a standard nice 2 door you'd be looking at £5k. Your Dad sounds like a good man, so do you! Good luck with your hunt, eBay and carandclassic.co.uk always have a few up but take someone who knows them when viewing.
  13. Great car, good choice for fun and investment, enjoy!
  14. Lovely looking car, enjoy!
  15. I checked out my RS on AVO club before buying. I attended AVO day, some friendly people, lots of good info on the site but a little quiet. Still, any club supporting old fords is great!
  16. Finally got around to setting up a donation page for Cancer Research. I'm not running a marathon, I'm not cycling 100's of miles, no triathlon, no climbing mountains, no driving from Land's End to John O'Groats, not taking a bath in cold custard, I'm not going to eat 100 chillis, I won't be putting a ferret down my trousers, nothing... All I'm doing is reaching out to all you that have experienced someone close to you who has had cancer or is suffering from it now. My Dad passed away from bone marrow cancer at 76 years old. I was looking at photos of him the other day and the one regret I have is not taking enough photos of him with me in the last few years. Plus, it would have been nice to see him with some of the cars that he had over the years... he had some good ones. Anyway, if you can spare a some money, anything would do, please donate to Cancer Research, you can use my page for my crazy Dad or do it in your own personal way but if you can we will beat cancer and we'll have more time with the people that we love. http://donateinmemory.cancerresearchuk.org/0005332
  17. With the 1700 xflow mine sold at £14.1k... for insurance I would have been looking at £15-16k.. the E is a special beast, go for £16k insurance value. The insurance valuation should always be higher than the market IMHO.
  18. There's not many good Es around. Yours is sound with a good solid engine. It would sell for £10k today easy. The value will go up from there, for insurance value I'd go for £14k. I had my standard Wheeler Dealer at £12k insurance value.

Love it, Martin Freeman is great, Billy Bob is class.
  20. I remember when the Vektar first came out! I'm 39. What made you interested in old bikes, as you're only 26 you should be into Donkey Kong and Super Mario... or wait, I love that shit too! My 'new' bike is a Super Tuff Burner with all the gold sticky coating removed.
  21. I had a Rayleigh Burner as a kid... 30 years on I bought another. I had lots of fun riding my new toy around...
  22. My Dad always had old Fords... he bought a mk1 1300GT Escort when I was 3 until I was 10... I'm on my fifth mark 1 now, such a lovely looking and driving car... love it to bits.
  23. I use trickle charger, keeps the battery in good condition as well as keeping it topped up.
  24. I had a 1700 xflow screamer built by Ashton, loved it... now I have a 2.1 pinto and I love that too! The pinto is more torquey and relaxed for cruising, the xflow with the 4 speed was tiring on the dual carriageways. Overall I love both but the pinto pips it, just.
