  1. No spots for me... I love the lines of the car... I grew up with my Dad's GT mk1 with no spots.
  2. Beautiful, your old one looked gorgeous as well. You've done well finding this one.
  3. Lol, he was really struggling to drive that! I think the other cars are on that link... Crazy prices!
  4. Sold for £23,600 http://www.coys.co.uk/past-auctions.php?auctionID=41
  5. There are some very positive quotes on twitter as well, #fortheloveofcars.... I really enjoyed the program. Some exaggerated bits but overall it was great to see a good car program.
  6. Been using the RS everyday, trip to Drusillas Zoo today, couldn't stop smiling cruising at 70 listening to the lovely 2.1 pinto... Glad to have a type9 5 speed!
  7. Great days... long drives, thumbs up by people, car trip to Essex last Saturday to see Mum. Love spring/summer!
  8. The weekend this was posted, I started fitting rear seat belts... this weekend just gone, I drove up to London to see my Mum Saturday... Sunday, Mother's Day, we drove to Wakehurst Place, then onto a restaurant to treat my wife... before the meal I had a treat and parked up next to:-
  9. They're brilliant, sorted me out on my RS2000, much cheaper than anyone else and great friendly service.
  10. I did 1hr 36... it's a very tough course. It stayed dry though. I did it five years ago as my first half, it didn't go too well. I was sick the day before and was coughing badly but because I had paid the entry fee I felt I should do it! I did it in 2hr 16 so a huge improvement on that! My PB for a half is 1hr 29m 59 secs! My aim was to beat 1hr 30, I did it by 1 sec! That was at the Royal Parks Half in London... a very nice one to do. You'll be hooked now! 1hr 41 for a first one is great, well done.
  11. Which one did you do? I did Hastings this weekend.
  12. So what's made you addicted to exercise?
  13. You'll be fine! Running 12 in 1hr 40 is good. Your swimming is good, those are the hard bits. I know a work colleague that does these and he runs 1hr 50 half marathons. I did the London Marathon for the Samaritans. I was worried before but as long as you put the training in you'll be fine. You seem to do lots of running! Good luck, a very good cause.
  14. So February 2013 I bought the car from Mike Brewer at £11,700. I thought it was a high at the time but adding up all the bills came to around this amount, the paint job was £3,500 alone... Since then, I spent a bit of money on her, making her run faster etc... new Ashton 1700cc Xflow etc... I thought the eBay auction would go to £15k so I set the rerserve at £14k with the intention of donating £1,000 to cancer research. The winning bid was £14.2k... but I have decided to still give £1,000 to Cancer Research. The guy who bought her is really pleased, collected today... he's an Escort man... owning a 1300E 15 years ago along with Escort Van etc... Anyway, all is well, the car has a new happy owner, money raised for charity and I have a RS2000. Thanks for all the kind messages... and thanks to my Dad... he was a crazy fool who always did everything for his kids.
  15. You're right... I keep looking...
  16. Yes, it looks really nice but the E and RS are more comfortable!
  17. Thanks to my Dad, RIP, I have a psychological problem obsession with mk1 Escorts... My first Escort was a lovely 1300E, totally standard. I had this for 2 years, I drove it to Cornwall from Horsham (near Gatwick) and all around Cornwall whilst there. I loved this one but needed to sell as money was tight at the time... My second was a Mexico replica with a 1600cc fitted mated to a type 9 5 speed and 2.8 Capri struts, six clock dash etc...looked nice but was welded to death underneath! Still solid though! My third was a 1100L with 1800cc zetec, Anglia axle to take larger wheels, disc brakes all around, type 9 quick shift, Morgan dash dials, slammed South London look... I never fell in love with it... shame because it did look good... Forth was the Wheeler Dealer Escort, great car and I spent lots on her to make her go as well as she looks. Problem was I had an itch for a RS2000 and had been looking for the right one for a few years. Anyway, £1,000.00 will be given to Cancel Research on the sale of the Wheeler Dealer car. Then finally, my dream one - genuine RS2000! I think I'm done now... my disease has been cured, no need to keep looking on ebay etc...
  18. Thanks for all the comments guys... This is the car that I've always wanted from being a boy... my dream car. 5 years ago I bought a toy RS2000, 2 years ago my wife bought me a large RS2000 poster in the same colour, it's in our dining room... now I have the real thing! 'Doyle' Martyn, the seller, was so considerate. He picked me up from the train station, gave me a tasty posh coffee, drove me down to the Post Office to tax her then suggested I followed him to the motorway to make it easier for me. A real gentleman and a great car. He's spent many hours getting the engine bay looking gorgeous, building the engine etc... he also drove it to Le Mans and did the Lakes Tour in her. My general rule for buying is, if the car has been owned more than 3 years by the current owner and they are genuinely sad about selling it, the car must be good. Martyn owed the car for 7/8 years and was very sad to see her go. She's in good hands now. I love this car more than any other I've had!
  19. Going in the local paper on Thursday! Currently on their website http://www.wscountytimes.co.uk/news/local/horsham-classic-ford-escort-on-ebay-for-charity-1-5912790?fb_action_ids=531028740345212&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_ref=.UxYOpaow7XA.like&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map=%5B591340050946579%5D&action_type_map=%5B%22og.likes%22%5D&action_ref_map=%5B%22.UxYOpaow7XA.like%22%5D
  20. What a journey back... the car is better than I expected. The ex owner is a true gentleman. He had the car for 7-8 years and completely restored underneath and the engine bay. It's running a 2.1 pinto on twin 40s with a type9 5 speed. Anyway, here's the pics!
  21. 70% Ford, 70% Vauxhall.. And I found myself liking the Firenza's looks.. Better get back to my old Ford mags for re education.
  22. Left at 6:30 home at 3:45... Great seller, great car, love it to bits. Well worth the journey / drive.
  23. Good idea, I've contacted the producer.... I'll see what happens.
  24. Very nice... I need to stop looking at stuff like this...
  25. Car insurance sorted by Clare from A plan, what a brilliant quote and service! On the train now to Cardiff! Be good to get the RS back in England, LOL.
