I feel for you but glad to see you have a change of heart. The car won't lose any value... but the main problem is lack of use, this is most likely why she's playing up. If realistically you wont be able to use frequently and if it keeps playing up, you will end up hating it... Maybe selling and getting a cheaper sorted 4 door would be a compromise? My 1300e took me to Cornwall and back, I did 3,000 trouble free miles with the standard 1300 xflow on points ignition. You would still have a cool mk2 but with more money in the bank.

You need to use that sweet xflow more, they get better with the miles! Since my engine build I've put 600 on her and she keeps getting better!

Wonder how long the new owner will keep it for and how many miles will they drive in it... I bet it will sit in a garage and taken out very, very occasionally... more money than sense means mk1 prices will continue upwards. Not sure this is a good thing as we'll see less being driven. Since fitted I have done 600 miles, 200 in the last week. I want to use her as much as possible. Does anyone feel guilty about not driving your pride and joy enough? So what will you cover in 2013 and how many miles do you intend to do in 2014?

The guy I bought it from wanted something different so he chose Subaru Ice Blue, looks like Ford mink blue, do didn't look that different!

I hardly used my lowered mk1 Escort zetec on 175-50's Kids hated it, too noisy, scraped on every bump etc.. My 1700 xflow on 185-60's gets used much more, just need my 5 speed fitted to make it perfect. Using it as daily this week.

Sell and get something to mod and make your own. This way you've had the best of both... I.e. the experience of owning, driving a harrier then driving a modded individual car to your spec. I often hanker after a genuine Mex but deep down I know it wouldn't be for me. I like to drive and enjoy my twin 45s, lsd, 1700 xflow and mk4 recaro seats too much. Get a mk1 with tuned 2.1 pinto... Enjoy it then swap mine for it when you're done.

You shouldn't have gone to the E30! You'll get hooked, I started with E30, then E46, then E34, E30 conv, E90, now back to E46 as daily driver... I love all 'old' Fords but all BMWs... Well except diesels and SUVs
