  1. seriously mate try a search it's been coverd untold times
  2. I'd say that was incorrect. Fact: The two races that Button won this season were both in the wet, as was the Hungarian GP he won for BAR (in a largely uncompetitive car) in 2006 This was BAR's only GP victory before becoming Honda. Bit of a pain waiting for it to get going but quite an eventful race I thought. tTotaly with you there, Button usually excels in the wet but today he was just, well, crap TBH blinding race IMHO great rundown to a great season, i often wonder if the detractors are actually bothering to watch the races or just moan for the sake of it ? we get one of the best races of the season yet we get "yawn" comments ? or am i just a fanboy
  3. I alleways used a FWD stat housing and the standard fan switch TBH, never had a problem, both very similar engines
  4. As it says the site is being updated, now working for me perfectly but may go down again for a while whilst the changes are finalised I must admit we should of made it clearer with a bigger anouncement but these thing get missed when you knee deep in what ever you get knee deep in when updating a site. does it show i have no idea of how you actually update a site i just mod somone else does the intelligent stuff
  5. somehow your browser is blocking that particular pop up window, had it before, i had to find the addyy of the window from somone who hadn't blocked it then added the address as safe and it came back you probably caught the block tab when clicking on sumink else, that's what i did
  6. 1300 only acording to the huntsman pamplet i have a scan off, maybe in the past it got a 1.6 engine and somone actually botherd to inform DVLA
  7. fook me you certainly turned that around ! was that a home made front valence or did you manage to find a new one ? looks the bollox mate wish mine was that good
  8. 1171 crossed out and 5831 re-written in, group 1 the 5831 ties in with a list i have off the FIA pages
  9. obv it is my 2.3 GhiaS is still up for a grand, mot moved since the MOT (10 months left) only thing at 18 round town and high 20s on a run it aint really a daily unless you like the till doris at the local petrol station
  10. Right here's trhe final outcome, stripped of all the weights and started again, result- exactly the same (as i knew it would be like i said the wheels are out of true and no amount of balencing will iron out an out of round wheel). sooo i put the tyres on an ald set of sports steels i had laying about, result- worst old whhel was 155g and still unbalenced on the steel 35g (this tyer also has a flat spot), 2nd worst 145g - on the steel 30g, 3rd worst (flat spot on the tyre from long term parking) 25G, last one went from 35g on the alloy to 2g an the steel, so there you go just cos the machine said it's balenced i aint allway so ! P.S the car drove like a limo compaired to the old wheels even though there is a slight vib from the flat spotted tyres on the rear, so next time you buy those lurvly minilights take care !! you might get bitten, this has cost the customer £100 on top of the purchace price and he still needs to spend £500 on a new set of wheels and 2 tyres, oh and dont park your car for months on it's wheels
  11. sorry to steal the thread but i dont spose you know if there's a web page with the cortina Mk5 FIA papers at all ? my copy is rather poor
  12. cheers chaps they are 13's 2 of the worst have flat spots on the rims inner and cos the car's fully poly bushed it makes it sooo much worse trouble is of the 2 good ones 1 of em nned weights right on the inner lip where they hit the caliper The thing i find is that even if it comes up as balenced on the machine once you get to over 60 it vibrates like a Bstd (polys not helping here), i've tried differant hubs/discs and bearing and the vibration on the rear is in some ways worse than on the front (no steering movment to absorb the vibrations). still he's going for a new set and new tyres so it will be sorted it's just i said i personly dont like more than 35G each wheel cos thats what we used to work to back in the day and i wonderd if it was still around that mark? thanks for the input
  13. Done that cheers mate just wanted peeps thoughts on an aceptable amount of weights TBH there's still a small shake with the steels but they are old and have slightly tracked tyres and not been checked for balence but certainly way better than the alloys My opinion is the alloys are fooked, well at least 2 are it's just convincing peeps that a wheel can be balenced and still not be 100% when on the car at differant speeds to the speed of the balance machine personly i tend to think that more than 35grams on a wheel indicates a problem that may not dissapear even if the machine says it's ok, i did work in a tyre place but when i say it was quickfit it sort of doesn't help me sound like i know what i'm doing and TBH it was 20 years ago tyre and wheel tech has come a fair way in that time and really wanted somone with fresher knolledge to give me an opinion
  14. tyres are 2 years old (decent make) tried moving them round but you can see on the balence machine the wheels are not round (if you lay on the ground and watch the wheel you can) wevery time you add the weight the machine says tyou need the imbalence moves and it need more we got to 145 grams on one wheel and i said give up it aint gonna balence out and if it does it'll weigh twice as much as it should shame cos they look good (minilites)
  15. I have a customers car in at the mo to solve a severe vibration on the car, now 2 of the wheels have 140 grams of balence weights on em and are still out of balence, i know they are out of round and so fooked, the question is what is an acceptable weight for a decent wheel? i usually say over 35grams and there's a deeper iassue with the wheel or tyre but what do others concider an aceptable amount of wheel weights ? cheers P.S the car in question is fully poly bushed including the Xmember so any imbalence will seem worse but i just weanted that 2nd opinion before getting the customer to spend £500 odd on a new set of wheels and tyres, i am trying to get him to drop a few poly bushes from the car as i know cortinas suffer when fully bushed

It's pretty up together apart from the rot in the floor and chassis. What are you after Bortaf? I'm in Walthamstow.... well i had been after a tailgate for like years but i got one from Austria a few months back typical i'm only in edmonton are the door panels any good? mine are XRtree and fooked beyond all reasonable use (bloody wife must have 3 ton elbows ) also need rear seatbelts and back of the rear seat if possable ? can pop over remove/pay ?
  17. when closed the throttle flap will still be (or should be) open enough to let air through to idle, with twin side draughts there is one throttle per cylinder and if one is restricting the air then less will get into the cylinders to be compressed but with you twin choke this wont be a problem, it's just best to have the throttle wide open to let as much air in as possable to get an acurate reading. If that's a wet test and the reading were the same dry i'd say you have a valve sealing problem like over tight tappets of recessed valve seats/burnt valve seats, if it was lower when tested dry i'd say the rings have gone or you have bore wear on those 2 low reading cylinders Drat beaten to it whilst spell checking

bowt 160 a ton in N London where are you ? i have a 2 door estate Mk4 any good bits left on it ?
  19. 1600 GT used standard 2.0 cam if that helps at all ?
  20. well i spose it's been a good 9 months since somone asked this question, it's usuall a monthly thing
  21. B/H pattern, input shaft length, gear ratios, same differances ae the type 9s have but harder to swap about (intergrated BH), most people accept the ratios are worse in the MTs but the box is stronger so make do
  22. yes mate i have but TBH the only experiance i'be had with that was replacing one after it had crackrd accross the new holes No idea how well the drilling was done so cant comment as to wether it's a dodgy idea or wether that particular one was badly done ? i'm not 100% on this but but i think the bore of the centre hole is differant as well so needs opening up BUT as i say that's not something i have actually seen with my own eyes just heard is all and i like to differentiate between what i know and what i beleive
  23. you need the bellhousing off a V4 consul /Mk1 granada (part number 72GB 7505 LA ) no type 9 ever came on a V6 essex but the V4 consul used a type E gearbox (on which the type9 is based) and a bellhousing from one of those will fit the type 9 gearbox AND an essex engine, good luck finding one they are rocking horse poop but they do appear on ebay every now and then you can use a 4 cylinder box but TBH they wont last long if you like to launch hard the best bet is a 2.8 V6 box with 14.7mm machined off the input shaft and the above BH but do not get the H/D XR4i box as this has an uprated input shaft bearing and the cover for this will foul the granada bellhousing and need machinework theer are aftermarked B/H available i beleive btu costly
  24. me mate missus fell over a broken paving slab and broke her elbow, she got £3500 out of the council, £500 of that was for her unemployed old man who had looked after his own kid ? no wonder the fooking country is broke Ok i can see a compensation for being off work but neither of then have worked in 8 years and why did he get paid for doing what he did day in day out anyway ? whta i'm saying is get the right company it's easy money
