  1. Bear in mind that some "standard equipment cv shite" carbs can take weber jets anyway.Yes they may have to be redrilled to get perfect fuelling, but i thought due to the large gap between jet sizes this was the case with DCOEs anyway if you want to get optimum fuelling? As for being expensive to get running it all depends how you go about things sureley?Ive read a few cases elsewhere where people have done there own bike carb conversion for next to nothing with no problems,on the other hand i know of 3 recently built engines-2 pintos & one crossflow that were fitted with base jetted webers & all 3 of them have run like complete dogs without having a fortune spent getting them set up-so it works both ways. I got my bike carbs as a complete kit ready to fit for the same price as a 2nd hand set of 45s & for that money the 45s would probably need a rebuild too..... Mine were base jetted & just need final setting up on a RR-the same as if id have bought a set of webers/dellortos,ive not got round to this though as mine ran ok straight out of the box. Agreed,it might be difficult finding someone who can set them up but last time i was at Sanspeed he said he was getting a few cars in with bike carbs now & would be able to set mine up so no probs for me there! I notice the people who have said positive things about bike carbs in this thread & elsewhere are people that have actually used them,as much as i love webers & dellortos(& ive had a few sets over the years!) i cant remember a set that drove as smoothly as my bike carbs. Ultimateley its your decision-i would have thought on that particular spec engine a twin choke weber would have been enough. Oh while im here, are you serious Vista people have been fitting deep steels forever mate-its hardly a craze .
  2. It was nice knowing you mate all the best to you both
  3. Thats good news,my car was full of water by the time we got to Brighton Wisley at 7 then,Anyone else??
  4. Im up for meeting at wisley (if the weathers good!)
  5. Superb day,top marks all round & nice to see so many cars out despite the terrible weather
  6. Kieran, those pics are brill mate well done
  7. Take it somewhere else next year, ive never had any problems like this before. In fact my 100e just went through the mot & that has white lenses on the front & amber on the rear. The mot testers manual says vehicles after sept 65 must have amber lenses & vehicles before can use white on the front or red on the rear http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_150.htm
  8. I personally thought there was more late model stuff there than in previous years & if the event is put on by classic ford mag then i personally expect to see the kind of stuff thats featured in the mag,its all very well saying if you dont like it walk past but its a bit of a dissapointment to travel all that way only to have to ignore half the stuff on display! Most owners of modern stuff have respect for the old stuff because they have been there before, owned them restored them etc. As for the GT40 im sure many of us apreciate the cars for what they are, some are great pieces of engineering some are lime green bodykitted mondeos But youd be pissed off if you had to sit through 2 hours of other bands & only hear 1/2 hour of rolling stones,or be told "well if you dont like the other bands then dont listen to them"! Reading through other threads it seems like the autojumble has already suffered, there was certainly more late model stuff on display that i noticed.I dont see whats wrong with wanting a show for our classics especially when the other stuff is so well catered for already,if i want to see 20 minilite wearing-pastel coloured-mk1 escorts i expect to see them at classic ford show & if i want to see 20 focus RS' in a row i expect to see them at ford fair!!.Im all for a bit of variety but dont want to be looking back in 5 years time wondering what happened to a great show.
  9. I was planning to go to this, there should be some wicked cars on display & if it means missing ford fair thats fine by me,line after line of diamond white RS turbos does nothing for me im afraid
  10. Nice pics & was nice to meet you mate
  11. Was a great weekend, only spoilt by the considerate people that almost parked there transit on top of my tent as i was trying to get to sleep,it was enough of an experience havng a diesel transit running right next to my ears for an hour whilst they shout at each other but they then proceeded to start up a generator at 5.00am so they could make themselves a cup of tea And in my opinion there was far to much plastic crap there considering the show was for classic ford mag. Was great to meet some new people from the site & see the cars that ive only ever seen on a computer screen
  12. Nice one guys,& i cant thank Driver enough for lending me his "lid" so i could run up the strip.Much appreciated mate
  13. Nice work Dazza,looks great
  14. Nice pics. Was a superb night & that orange RS did sound the nuts, seemed very quiet compared to those V8's though
  15. Thanks guys & girls maybe its time to shorten my username to "oldgeezer"
  16. Hooligans
  17. I wasnt quoting you emu ,i meant steves no horsepower comment. When i was researching using them i was advised to go for R1 carbs which are 40mm yet whenever the subject comes up on here i am told they are too small? To be honest ive not really looked into the subject much since i fitted mine but i thought because of the design larger carbs being "overkill" isnt an issue. Most people said mine are fine,a few have said they are too small, yet everyone else whos fitted them loves them If you are intent on using smaller carbs maybe the best people to ask are the people on locostbuilders who are using them? The conversions ive seen on 2.0 pintos have used the same as mine. Ive posted my reasons for using them countless times elsewhere & dont need to go over it again-they are still on the car after a year which i think confirms they are as good as i was led to believe theyd be
  18. Just to clear up any misunderstanding mine have been rejetted but not set up yet,When i got them from Bogg bros they came refurbished & base jetted(i have said this in most of the other posts) the same way webers would be as alladdin pointed out.. Im sure most people realise you cant just unbolt a set from a bike & strap them on the side of your pinto, the same way you cant get a pair of webers off an old alfa & expect them to run perfectly In other words 'No horse-power' :mrgreen I bet that will upset a few people Is this supposed to mean we all brag about driveability because weve not gained any power ? Ive only commented on the driveability because it is a FACT the car drives better than any of the cars ive had with webers/dellortos Most of the other people on locostbuilders have said the same thing-we cant all be wrong? Or do you mean none of us have big power engines? Its not our fault if we build our cars to suit our requirements & not just for ultimate bhp. Im not trying to convert anyone & dont really care what people use,ive just tried to answer peoples questions based on my own experience with bike carbs.
  19. Anyone meeting on the A3 on the way up there?? 1. Mk2Jo 2. Marky4 3. Emu 4. Emu's Dad 5. DeuceCoupe 6. Wessie 7. Harry 128 8. capriclive 9. El Sumo 10. jamesmk1 11. mr & mrs ratman 12.petrolhead01 13.james p 14. Budgie 15. Cmpod83 (as its my Birthday! Yay! 16.oldschoolgeezer
  20. And early wide bumpers, looks like early 1/4 bumpers are on the back plus 100e's have a weird stud pattern as standard so it must have classic struts & a 105e/escort axle to fit those rims!
