My cappa sounds great on over run, poppin and bangin like a works cosworth, but when i floor it its fine.

Escort21 reckons i should get it on the rollers and get it fettled.

problem is i hate it when another man fiddles with me bits

Out the zorst Ian....

isnt causing a problem, i thinks its running lean on overrun, lean mixture burns faster so is starts to burn before zorst valve fully shut (im guessing, overlap on cam) , cruises fine, floor it goes very well for the spec, no missing or bangin, just on over run out the zorst, sounds like an explosive gang bang of burning fuel atoms.

2 litre pinto, FR32, 40 dcoes. 5 degrees advance on vernier.

get the odd spit through the carbs but il the ones ive had with sidedraught carbs have been the same.

carbs :thumbsup: efi :piss::wink:

well, im getting a good 34 mpg, which for the spec is bloody good i think, and ive never driven it with economy in mind.

no flame, just pops and bangs when on over run, only way to desribe it as like a works cosworth or simallar.

ive had 4 foot flames with the last ignition system, but thats another story.

thats 34mpg, with a cam, 40s, a 4 speed and a 3.77, driven.....enthusiasticly!!!

maybe its just overfueling on over run???

ive had this on all multicarbed cars ive had though, i set em up to what i know, they pull hard with no probs, but every tuned multicarb engine ive had has done it.

I get it too probably not quite the same as you as ive got a 1.1 fiesta but it doesnt half pop away on overrun, love the way it sounds but I do that that little niggly feeling that something might be up with it.

Almost definatly an air leak on the inlet side of things, usally an iffy mis-ab plate.

Thanks steve, they are a few years old now, il get some on order and give em a try....

i dont mind the popping, but i did have a barry boy once ask me where i got my flamer kit

If you order some new ones order some new rubber washers (if you use that type) as well as they never squash up the same after they've been used for a long time.

No mate, seriously, usualy foot to the boards...many on here can vouch for that too....

if i wanted economy id have a 34 ich and a crappy 5 speed

and I bet that would only give you a couple more mpg, sound like a sweet setup

no idea, i just mess with it, if it goes better thats good enough, if i fit something that dont work it goes in the bin.

i dont like letting others fiddle with me bits.

not even the missus?

The increase in choke size may give a bit more mid rangle/top end but possibly sacrafice the bottom end pickup. No harm in playing as long as it doesn't run too lean, you might have to play with the jet sizes to get the best results.
