I used to run old cars as daily drivers, I would get fed up with it quickly and end up buying a 'modern' car (which at the time meant something like a Morris Ital... ), then I'd get fed up with that, buy another old one and start all over again... :?:? Now luckily I can have one as a toy and run a modern car (well, an 11 year old Megane  ) as well. But since I've been on this forum I have been having ideas about looking for a MK2 Escort, Mk5 Cortina or Capri as a daily... :)

The most "modern" car I've had was a '92 Rover :shit:

Since then, my daily runners have been:

'71 Escort under resto

'83 Sierra XR4isold

'83 Capri Ghia on the drive

'73 Cortina GXL latest acquisition

The 'Tina's my current daily motor.... :pimp:

Nothin feels better than walkin upto an old skool motor,

the only old skool motor visible and jumpin in :D

Don't think I'll ever buy a modern car again......

I bought my Capri then changed my job. I was doing 30K miles a year then decided to get a TD Escort. It was crap. Spent more time on a trailer then the road. Sold it. Then used the Capri again. So then I bought a 2.9 XR4x4 converted to LPG as my daily. Got so pi**ed with the problems with the gas that I sold it to my brother. He GAVE me another Mk6 Escort coz I said I couldn't afford another shitter. The Escort takes a beating at work and has already done 20K since October. When I get chance I take the Capri out. If I'm skint I'll sell the crap before the Capri.

I used to run OSF's daily when they weren't so OSF - 10 years old or less, they were ok. But my MK2 now falls into the "Toy" category along with the bike. They're great when the time is right but being able to jump into a car not thinking "will it start?" wins it for me.

It's just not practical as a daily runner as the modern cars have evolved so much & I'd rather wreck the modern one too.
