Rick Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 iv had enough today my enthusiasm has been crushed by multiple cockups. im sure paint manufacturers design their paints to react with other brands! the celly blue paint i painted on the inside when i first got the car is the first problem, i spent about an hour keying it all up nicely before i primed over the top. spray the primer over it and it dried with big cracks and lines in where it had softened up the paint underneath but dried on top. so iv let it all dry properly and then try again this time dusting the primer on nice and fine.... it still fecking happened..... iu think the solvent in this primer is waaaay too strong to be honest... so i walk away. let it dry overnight and then bare metal the fooker and start afresh. then i took off my fanblade that needs touching up. feathered it all out and keyed it up nicely. dusted some plastic primer over.... oh fook its reacting . fanblade thrown up wall. came home. just not in the mood now how can two simple jobs go so wrong??? moral of the story: go back to bare metal/plastic and save yourself the hassle!!! cuz now i have a headache and i have more work to do than i started with
Cookie Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 I know what your saying mate, does your fookin nut right in don't it Walk away from it, take a break nd go back when your heads straight or things tend to get a hammer taken to them and even more work to fix
andrewg1323 Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Ever tried to cover somethign thats been anywhere near a halfords rattle can? Halfords paint seems to react with anything and everything!
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 I feel your pain mate, it was only a week ago I prepped up the engine bay on the Anglia. Well chuffed with it I was. Primed the area, blew it off, panel wiped it, blew it off again & started to paint it. Little did I know, the rings in my compressor have decided to let go and pumped oil into the air tank. So, oil + paint = Cock up!!! I have spent the last few days DA'ing and hand flatting the reacted paintwork up. Part 2 is today though, got some more paint, thinners & the wicked magic stuff they call... Barcoat. This you spray on before anything else, and anything will paint over it with no drama's. So wish me luck!!!
