have decide not to zetec the mk2!! am going to put a pintosaurus in it as i already have most of the bits and it will mean it will be on the road a lot quicker 8)

have sourced a 2.0 efi lump, so already sorted for unleaded, only got 74k on it so should be ok to go straight in 8)

am gonna run it on the twin 45 dellortos that came with the car just need a manifold for them

What Zetec bits did it come with mate? and are they for sale?

retroford sump, pick up, dipstick, engine mounts, alternator brackets, spigot bearing, water rail, pump housing, thermostat switch, flywheel for pinto clutch, new silicon ht leads, coil pack, edis stuff, flywheel bolts etc etc, there is also an inlet manifold for 45's and prob a few bits i have forgotten!

no exhaust manifold or alternator.

tbh im not sure what to do with it all as i may put it in my mk1 although i do still have a 2.1 pinto for that! i may be open to sensible offers on it though

best to put a cam in that pinto to make use of the 45's .......

allthough it does seem like you have all the bits needed for the Zetec.. 150 at least from that, what you going to get from the pinto.. In Esme (the overhauling project) we put an EFI lump that Arron at HT had rebuilt with headwork and a cam, etc and it gace 136 on both figures or there abouts.

So i would still stick with the Zetec.. but then thats me :D

Oh and as ive mentioned ESME... give me a chance to post this again ....

ESME and Nickiy

have seen the pics of esme and you guys should be proud m8 :ykt:

i can see what you are saying gary but its just a case of getting the car done a lot quicker and cheaper this way. theresa isnt bothered about which engine we fit as long as it goes :lol:

i just think the zetec will take too long to fit and get set up

you've got all the bits havnt you???

You'll need an exhaust on the pinto... and a manifold..

so lets look at it ..

zetec and pinto in.. they both have mounts, the 5 speed needs the same work.. ermm what else is different ..

If its the ECU thats a problem.. get in touch with Steve Greenald and he'll get you a mapped MBE ECU for not a lot.. 3 wires and your running,

peace of mind when Nursey's out alone.. no points to break down, it will start first time every time.. no flooding of the 45's etc ..

And yeah.. the ESME overhaul was one of the best weekends of my life

you are starting to sway me gary

i already have all the pinto bits in my store

its the electricery side of the zetec that puts me off i really dont understand it and it all looks so bloody expensive

Posted

the mbe ecu uses 3 wires ... a live, a switched live and an earth.. the loom that Steve can supply with it just hooks up on a few sensors and they all have different shapes ... square peg .round hole...

Take into account the costs of getting a reliable 150 from a pinto and you'll see the ECU is cheap .. Dave Whites standard engine made 178 and that was on a 136 mondeo engine with nothing more than an exterior paint up and a slight head skim to raise the comp up a bit, most 136's give over 160 ..

And they idle, will pull from fook all revs, your not screaming them to make them move because they are cammed up screamers, its just like driving a modern car, easy peasy.

Just look at Mikes video of the van...

Then call Steve, 077774773824.

Or pop down to the Talbot Pub tonight and chat in person, its just off the M11 junction 7 (Harlow) in North Weald .. The local Lotus Groups meet

Its only a few miles for you :D
