Sorry, but I need to let this out!!!!

 

I have spent a few hundred quid rebuilding my 1300, had drama's all over the place, what with a f****d compressor, reacting paintwork, having to buy a gearbox and prop, and also having probs with timing and 2 distributors.

 

I have also found out the carb is scrap, so I had to borrow my mates on off his 1200. Whilst I was out there today trying to sort this noise out, I thought I would check the exhaust pipe to manifold clamp. Now, I know the exhaust is bent so it doesn't line up properly, but I just can't get it to fit properly without blowing.

 

So, I need a f*****g new exhaust now, along with a carburettor. Slight problem.... am now as skint as a skint person can be, and every time I look at this f*****g car, I want to cause it some serious damage.

 

Why why why, do I listen to people... "No, don't Zetec it, it is too original!" The grief I have had, I really wouldn't mind if it was a Zetec, because it is modern with old, so I expect problems. This is old with old, and is the same (or what I thought) as the old shite engine I have aimed out!

 

I really am at the end of my teather, this should have been finished 3 weeks ago... I have had to miss the rolling road day as well. Everytime I try and sort something out, something else has to go wrong.

I wish I could mate... I don't drink! Just been to the shop and got shite loads of choccy and Fanta so I can sit and sulk.

 

I can't believe the engines I have built, fitted and transplanted before, this is the most annoying, taken the most time, and been the most expensive with the most grief.

 

I should have gone Zetec... why didn't I??????????

Although nothing to do with my motor,thankfully that side of it is all done now.But what a pain in the arse mind you.

 

 

I've worked on cars for well over 20 years now .

 

I am what you call a fussy bugger,every single little job i do,every single time i work on anything, i am committed to doing a top class job on every single bit of work i do,but nothing and i repeat nothing teaches you more than the problems you encounter.

 

This cortina i've got i tell you,everything i've done has been a fookin nightmare.

 

What clutch ?what crank? what cam? what pistons? what fookin sump ,what engine mount what seats,what rear springs? what bushes? what whatever!!

 

Even what did i buy this piece of shite for?

 

Where do you get this? where do you get that?That threads different!!

No ones got them ,they never made them ,(haha)there obselete,no there not i'll find one on ebay ,every other cxxt outbids you.

 

Oh thats fooked,i'll have to get another,you carn't find one!

 

The wrong parts turn up ,the parts are shite ,the parts you've bought arn't what there supposed to be!!There off a fookin Corsair!!!

 

I could go on for days.All of which piss you right off i know.

 

But i tell you this: every headake i've had so far is rewarded by the big cheasy grin on my face whenever i take it out,which incidently is vertually every other day

 

Keep going my freind your hard work will be worth it when your done and old school motors are way cool,stick with it.

calm down jim bob i went through all this last winter with my escort. just doing a simple pinto transplant yeah right 8months using every spare and not so spare cash to get it built. always one step forward fifteen back how i never kicked it or lump hammerd it to pices i will never know. but the first drive in it after being built was all worth it now less than a year off being on the road it is now in a mates lockup awaiting a few panels another engine and all those lil jobs that i should have done through the summer keep the faith man it will all be good. tis a cracking car dont give up

I've got them Strombergs for you Jim and I've got a pukka exhaust manifold to go with them too.

 

 

You didnt go Zetec because it would have cost you a kidney and there would have been no sweeties or pop for a very long time !!!

Because you'd still be having problems! My Zetec conversion hasn't been smooth. I've just had to order a new water pump because the one I got a few months ago to replace the leaking one I had is screaming its nuts off. Must have been a cheap copy.

 

As Tim says, when its sorted and you go for a drive, you can't beat the attention and smiles you get.

Wow, quite a few of you have replied

 

I know, I know, I should wind down a bit, I do actually find myself quite a patient person, and nothing has tested my patience more than this motor. If I have a problem, I deal with it, and get it sorted... that is me.

 

But, there is only so much even I can take. Still, it sits at the end of my garden being crapped on by birds... so it has time to reflect on what a pain it has been.

 

The only thing that does annoy me is, I have got work to do to the Capri, and I can't get it done until the Anglia is sorted. As most of you know, the Capri is my daily, it get's me everywhere I need to go, but it needs some love!

 

Johnny..... I should practice what I preach shouldn't I ????? LOL I wish I drank alcohol.

Jimbob your not alone, I think everyone’s in the same boat. Summers coming and the show season has started. Everyone’s franticly working every spare hour they can to get there OSF’s sorted for summer. My little bruv Noodles is driving us all potty at the moment with his MK2 sleeper. It seems the closer he gets to getting back on the road the more problems arise. But he will do it of that I’m sure and it’s the same for you. Stick with it mate, the more problems you get sorted now the more fun you can have during the summer.
